  I believe that I have had an idea which would save 1000's of lives every year and wish to submit it to the motor manufacturers. Can I patent an idea? Or do I actually have to find a way of constructing a prototype and patenting that? Obviously I'm totally in the dark as to this (no that's not a clue!)

  Yes that's right! Just got an email offering me £15 of M&S vouchers for test driving one of their cars - so booked up a Clio 182 to test next Saturday.   Just reading some back numbers of HJ's auction reports and in the 29 June one ( http://tinyurl.com/c6jzl ) he says: "Yesterday?s sale had quite a few interesting entries in the Bank of Scotland section, mostly repossessions carrying some degree of risk but consequently attracting low bids." Having bought a few cars at auction, and intending to again in future , I'm interested to know what the risk is...?

  My wife has just kerbed her 206cc and put a couple of nasty scuffs in the F/N/S alloy - they're not deep but a bit unsightly as they're on the face rather than the rim. I've found loads of places which will repair them but is there anything I can do myself? Appologies if this has been asked before but I've had a look back at previous topics and can't find anything.

  I've recently had my car laser checked which has revealed that my n/s/r wheel is out of alignment- the car has a slight pull to the left which is most noticable under braking. Is the rear alignment adjustable and if so is this a Honda dealer job or could I expect to find an independent to carry out the work?

  got a small problem. have a peugeot 406 and recently the o/s rear door wont open. It used to be an intermmittant fault but now totally locked. Had the interior side panel off and from all I can see all the bits (connections and rods) all moving ok. Either handle fails to open it.

  Hi I'm looking to relpace my Clio (4yr old).. had my fill of Renault.. esp petrol versions.. lost count of the coil packs I have had replaced. I really like the VW Passat but it is too expensive. even S/Hand, for me. looking at the Octavia 1.9TDi 5Dr.. I know VW make it... but is the build similar? Any advice or user opinion gratefully received.

  It intermittently keeps unlocking when trying to lock the car even when all the doors are shut. I see this used to be an issue on 306's and you could bypass the unlock by shorting 2 wires on the conrol unit together. Can you do the same on a 206 as it is getting annoying.

  Father-in-law managed to put a tank full of unleaded into his 98(s) mondeo 1.8td, car spluttered to a halt.Car went into garage and unleaded drained,fuel filter changed and off he went.However,car now failing to start regularly,only starts after priming fuel pump,seems as if there is air in the system somehow.Could anybody shed any light on what's happening please?

  Hi All, I have a problem with my R75 in that the N/S rear brake disc is badly scored (for whatwever reason - stone in pad maybe). The pads are obviously bought as a piar & will be replaced at te same time, but my question is this - can the disc itself be replaced singly or do they have to be replaced as a pair, ie both rear discs at the same time?

  The Blackpool illuminations thread has reminded me of something I find most odd. I thought the people on TV driving around at night with the interior light(s) on was simply to aid the camera shot but have noticed quite a few drivers doing exactly this. Surely this considerably reduces their ability to see out, although it could explain why they need their headlights and foglights on all the time?

  Hi my wife?s Clio 1.2, year 2000, older shape has developed a low intermittent humming noise, it appears to be coming from transition or steering. It occurs about 5 minutes after start up. It disappears when stopped or moving slowly.

  Ok, you Britt?s need to help us out. How do you do the Ali G finger snap? I read that the queen mother learned to do it before she died! Also to tie this to cars, and also because I am interested. What kind of car is he driving in ?
