James May - light, fast, economical challenge 5 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Anyone got any suggestions for a new engine + old bodyshell challenge? I reckon a Renault Supercinq 1.7 Monaco with a 1.5 dCi engine, chipped to 120ish bhp, would do the job nicely. Does anyone fancy building one? I can't find a Monaco but I have found a suitable looking GTX as a donor car. -
Daimler reportedly talking to FIAT 11 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Just hope it's not another Alfa Arna with, this time, German design flair and Italian electrics :) Whatever next ? Daimler talk to Renault about fixing the R Class ??? -
Nissan Navara Engine ?? 17 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Would anyone know whether the 2.5 chain cam engine in the Nissan Navara is sourced from Nissan or Renault ? Have already checked out car x car details, which neither mentions whether this is a Nissan engine or the potential reliablility of this vehicle. After reading about numerous turbo problems experienced with the Nissan X-Trail, any info would be much appreciated. -

New Laguna 21 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Hi all, should be a breeze for the knowledge available here - does anyone know when Renault are replacing the current Laguna (Laguna II) ? A friend has a current model and is thinking of replacing it with a brand new one, would be useful to know when the new one is coming out as I'd imagine that wouldn't help the values of the current models! -
Car dumping 20 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Over the last couple of days, have seen a dark green L-reg Mondeo estate, a lovely old Mercedes 230CE coupe, a Renault Clio and a late eighties Jaguar XJ6, all obviously dumped and with bits missing. The banger trade must really be in a poor state, if cars like this are being abandoned at the roadside. Richard Hall http://bangernomics.tripod.com -
Ugly 8 Jan 2003 (Forum)
...the Avantime and new Megane. They look like Renault have simply drawn a brick, attached something resembling a bonnet and taken a chunk out of the back. Any comments? Also, at risk of people shouting at me, I'm pretty surprised by Lord Irvine's comments regarding burglars and society's supposed view that a lack of a prison sentence is OK. -
A fair price? 28 Sep 2002 (Forum)
V.A.T & Labour (2 Hrs) to replace a Brake Pressure Valve Limiter for my Clio 16v 1992. I was assured this was a genuine Renault part. Was this is a fair price to pay? The total charge was about £190. Should I be able to see this part if I look under the car. If so, where do I look. Thanks Johno -
Espace Diesel overheating 11 Jul 2002 (Forum)
Our 2000 Renault Grand Espace 2.2 DCi started overheating and the engine cutting out in the Pyrenees last year. Garages in Spain and the UK failed to find any cause for this and the problem has increased, the final straw being the cutting out of the engine in slow traffic on Piccadilly! -

All Makes - Recovery Statistics 16 Apr 2021 (Forum)
All the usual suspects figured in his statistics and I suppose is good for business. No 1 Fiat followed by Citroen, Peugeot and Renault. Hardly ever sees any Japanese cars. -
Montego - a rarity now - for sale 15 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Never liked the Renault 17 but that Montego is something I’ve fond memories of. I flogged loads of them in the 90’s and rust aside had not one bit of bother. They were much better cars than their reputation suggested, all drove well and they were actually pretty well made once you got past the 1987 facelift. -
Grand scenic 1.9 2004 - New clutch biting point 6 Nov 2017 (Forum)
So after 80'000 miles the clutch went and we had it replaced at our local Renault dealer. Since we had it back we have noticed the biting point on the new clutch is very low maybe 2 inches from the floor. Is it normal to have it this low. All gear changes smooth. No issues with drive and no wierd noises. -

Mesrine public enemy 20 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Just arrived in from seeing "Mesrine public enemy No 1" at our local art house cinema. Set between 1973 and 1979 it shows a terrific variety of 70s French cars. Renaults 8, 12, 14 & 16, Peogeots 404, 204, 305 and 504, plenty of Citroens of course and a Chevrolet Corvair even makes an appearance. Great for car spotting and a superbly tense and exciting film. Highly recommended. -
Clio Dynamique or Punto Sporting? 29 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hi. I'm looking to buy either a Renault Clio Dynamique or a Fiat Punto Sporting (both with 1.2 engines and registered in 2001). Besides the Punto being faster, which is the better car between the two and why? Do they handle well? Are they both reliable?
