  • Stupid designs maintenance wise 2 Nov 2006 (Forum)
How many other 'stupid designs' can members think of or know of or dealt with? Steve. --- Xantia HDi. Buy a Citroen and get to know the local GSF staff better...
  • Free car? 13 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Parked on the verge outside my house is a very clean 1997 Citroen ZX Diesel. Naturally no tax disc is apparent but the car has good tyres and shows 76000 miles. It was abandoned there before Christmas and it now sports a notice that it will be removed (yesterday being the deadline) by the local authority.
  • Changing vehicle taxation class to LCV 28 Dec 2005 (Forum)
I want to convert an estate car from a PLG to LCV for tax purposes. Some manufacturers do this as standard, like Jeep Cherokees, Mitsubishi Shoguns and Citroen Xaras. They remove the rear seats and seat belts, then sell them as vans, which has many tax benefits for businesses. Is it a simple matter of telling the DVLA, or will they want to inspect the vehicle.

  • Aygo Banner 1 May 2005 (Forum)
Annoying soundtrack that made me twist the volume control to zero. In the questionnaire the model list of Citroens is about 5 years out of date, and somebody's got the age range questions in a muddle. Somebody in the marketing department should be preparing him or herself for a swift kicking for releasing the beta test version to a live audience.
  • The Which? car survey 2004/2005 11 Sep 2004 (Forum)
survey has arrived. Perhaps the most interesting bit is the list of "nine No-Nos" for buyers of used cars: Citroen C5 Daewoo Nubira (pre-2003) Fiat Brava Fiat Bravo Ford Galaxy Mitsubishi Carisma Peugeot 406 Renault Laguna Vauxhall Vectra (pre-Junes 2002) VW Polo I'll try and find time later to relay some of the juicier bits of some unusually (for Which?)
  • Facelift C5 - todays Autoexpress 21 Mar 2004 (Forum)
The article says that the chassis will be revised (its great already) and smaller spheres to give a firmer ride. (Why? we all want softer quieter rides). Citroen, think about this carefully before letting us drive them on our traffic calmed* roads. *Traffic calmed by not filling in the holes. Ben
  • Wonderous Stories! 25 Feb 2004 (Forum)
You know the one - somebody claiming such & such a car will get to 60 in 6 secs say, when you know for a fact they're talking bull! Or all the police cars on motorways have tuned V8s in them... A guy once told me that a Citroen CX GTi would out accellerate an E Type Jag. He wasn't even talking about the turbo model! Poor deluded souls...
  • Clunking windows(doors) 12 Jun 2003 (Forum)
After cleaning of my Citroen C5 with a very strong car shampoo (label states 'for heavily soiled and greasy cars') the windows (or doors or both) have started to clunk and creak. Its worse after rain. It seems to me that it is caused by somehow dried up windowrubbers or doorrubbers.
  • 5th Gear VW Touareg 10 Apr 2003 (Forum)
The presenter makes a big deal about the new VW having twin sun visors and lots of cupholders. Lets not forget that the Citroen C5 did it before, and I doubt it was the first. Just looked at the options list, height adjustable suspension, rain sensor, keyless entry, power closing of boot lid, nothing revolutionary. Oh, the V10 engine, that won't sell well, so it doesn't count.
  • Whats my Punto worth? 27 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Its the upgraded model which has airbags waiting to spring from every orifice. Anyone give me an idea what it's worth as a trade in? Ive been looking at either a Citroen C3 Sensodrive, or maybe the same as a Pluriel when they are released. Cheers, Tony :)
  • Fuel consumption 5 Mar 2002 (Forum)
I used to run a Toyota Avensis Estate (1.8) that regularly gave a consumption better than the official combined figure of 36.2 mpg. I now run a Citroen C5 Estate (2.0 110 HDI) and cannot get close to the offical combined figure of 49 mpg (44 is about it !). I am completing very similar journeys and still have this problem even when taking more than usual notice of the instantaneous mpg readout.
  • clamping area. 22 Nov 2001 (Forum)
today i parked my mothers citroen BX in a clamping zone, but i put the car in its lowest suspension height setting, so the clamper couldnt put a clamp on the car, it was brilliant seeing him trying to fit a clamp on it :-) p.s. he wasnt around when i started the car up, but as soon as the engine was running he ran out of his office carrying a clamp, i was in a panic waiting for the car to go to its proper height, and then i had to quickly drive away.
  • Alarm on Xantia 19 Aug 2001 (Forum)
On my return the 12 month old battery was flat.On charging it the front lights came on and flashed. My friendly Citroen specialist explained that the alarm must have been triggered(there was no noise jut flashing headlamps) and he explained how to reset it. After this I have switched it off. He said they sometimes do this ?

  • Car Insurance for just passed 10 Apr 2015 (Forum)
She has used the comparison sites but the quotes are very very expensive.  Anyone any ideas?  She is looking to insure an 07 Citroen C1 5 door Rhythm.   Thanks in advance.
  • VW - At cross-up purposes? 14 Feb 2013 (Forum)
A small car has different attributes to larger ones. It should be cheap,  light and uncluttered. The pug 106/Citroen Saxo are paragons of this concept. If you try to gentrify a small car, you end up losing these qualities, but you're still stuck with a fundamentally small car. Worst of both worlds. Or is it just me?

  • Fifth Gear: 'cooking' versus premium diesel 14 Oct 2011 (Forum)
This passed me by at the time, so apologies if it's been covered before:  here's a link to Fifth Gear's test of V-Power and Ultimate diesel versus ordinary supermarket stuff, using a newish Citroen C5 2.2 as the testbed (4 minute video clip). Both the premium fuels gave 161bhp compared with 155 on the ordinary stuff.  What WAS upsetting was that V-Power and Ultimate were 100.9 pence per litre at the time  :-/ Help me choose 13 May 2011 (Forum)
I have narrowed it down to a Ford Ka or an early Toyota Yaris, but I am open to suggestions - but no Corsas, Peugeots or Citroens please!
