(OK, I'm not as good at headline puns as HJ)

What is the purpose of the VW Cross-up? I don't understand the purpose of trying to make small cars look like big cars. A small car has different attributes to larger ones. It should be cheap, light and uncluttered. The pug 106/Citroen Saxo are paragons of this concept. If you try to gentrify a small car, you end up losing these qualities, but you're still stuck with a fundamentally small car. Worst of both worlds. Or is it just me?

Its an ugly little brute and I wouldnt buy one. There is better small cars around as you say.

People want big cars, but their wallets often like small cars. Ergo, small cars which are almost as big as big cars and not much more expensive than small cars are desirable cars.
