  • Ford Fiesta Stereo Help. 21 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I'm after some impartial advice regarding a 'K' plate Ford Fiesta Ghia I have just bought for the Missus. It's a grand little car. I have stereo issue's I believe she is a Ford 2006/2007/2008 radio cassette player, I know you are all thinking get with the times but all in good time. It comes up with the ellusive code reqd message, believe battery has recently been disconnected and as such requires code, I have only just bought the car and surprise, surprise as Cilla would say no code with it!
  • Commuting times increasing 19 Jul 2004 (Forum)
It blames people using main roads for short journeys, naming the M62. As we know, the M62 is mentioned every day on Radio 2's travel reports. As I see it, the M62 problem is that Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Wakefield, Hudds, Oldham and Manchester are all very close to each other, so close that they are all seen as commuter towns for each other.
  • Creaky Mondeo 3 Sep 2003 (Forum)
It does not matter if you are going over a smooth or bumpy surface, if anything it is worst over a smooth road. It is now a constant annoyance, and at times can be heard over the radio - even if it is on loud to attempt to drown it out. I have taken it into two different Ford dealers on 5 occasions who, despite being told how to ensure the creaking occurs (keep in shade and put air con on full for 10 minutes before taking it out on the road), have not managed to fix it.
  • Mitsubishi Colt 27 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I like what I see (and read in the Car by Car Breakdown) about the Colt and surprisingly there's one locally, an "96 N Reg Mitsubishi Colt 1.6 GLX, Petrol, Hatchback, 56,000 miles , 3 Doors. 1 owner and full MITSUBISHI history, 3 Doors. airbag double, Body Coloured Bumpers, Catalytic Converter, Central Door Locking, electric sunroof, Electric Windows, Heated Rear Screen, In Car Entertainment, Manual Transmission, Paint Metallic, Power-Assisted Steering, radio/cd, rear spoiler, Rear Wash/Wipe, £2,350" There's hardly any problems mentioned in CBCB unlike the great long list of Fords etc faults, but having done a quick search through the archives here it seems that Mitsubishi parts can be hard to source.
  • Rant about police and traffic reporters 10 Mar 2003 (Forum)
It is totally ludicrous to expect anybody to drive past a major shunt without taking a peek Rob P And then there's the local radio stations that flick on the RDS so that you can listen to two minutes of oh-so-daring and mildly suggestive chatter between the presenter and the traffic girlie. AAAAAGH!
  • Peugeot 406 Coupe Water Leak!! 13 Feb 2003 (Forum)
The passenger footwell started to fill up with water!! (literally) with some days over a pint of water hoovered out. With the radio and fan turned off I can hear water trickling as you go around a right hand bend and the left hand side is lower than the right. The leak is freshwater and not coolant / washer fluid etc. Water appears to be coming out of a small drain hole in a unit (I think a fan housing)up behind the glovebox During the 15 days I've owned the car it has spent five days in with the Peugeot Dealer trying to sort the fault.
  • Mazda 6 Sports Nav + Auto - 2019 Mazda 6 Sports Nav+ locks and windows 17 Jan 2019 (Forum)
So far we have found a big difference from our VW CC that had lots of features, radio worked without a key, security door opening, full closure and opening of windows when required.  Only had it a day or so but finding small things that mean a lot and as its the top of the range model we expected these small things to be there.
  • Toyota Yaris - New car - first week review 7 Apr 2018 (Forum)
No electronic handbrake No more can of gloop and compressor – a skinny spare sits under the boot floor No stop start system No complicated touchscreens for essential operations – just the radio and Bluetooth operations No rubber band tyres No turbo systems to go wrong Despite this it does have an excellent spec for what is the entry level 1.5 model.  There is a more basic model, but it only has the 1.0 engine.
  • Deposit on used car deal 14 Aug 2005 (Forum)
The clutch was still sticking, in fact it was now worse and the pedal would not come back from the floor on one occassion. The radio code had not been done. An argument ensued, the salesman saying that if we got the rear lights done he would reimburse us at a later date. We insisted he telephoned a Renault dealer in our presence and order the lights himself.
  • Audi Dealer woes, advice would be nice 4 May 2004 (Forum)
After waiting at the service desk for over an hour I was informed that they were still waiting for the new Radio!. No one could explain as to why my calls were not returned but I was promised that they would call me with a weekly update. Which of course never happened. 7 and a bit weeks later, after numerous calls and telephone tag with assorted buffoonary, I am informed the car is ready.
  • Volkswagen CC - Where to offload old car 29 Apr 2025 (Forum)
Its about 5 years/10k miles overdue a cambelt change It needs a service The radio touch screen backlight has broken A sticky switch in the steering column means it sometime throws a steering lock error, but still starts. This is quite a common error, but painful to fix.
  • Citroen C3 Aircross - Hire Car 22 Apr 2023 (Forum)
This seems to be a very French thing, but the cruise control buttons were strangely laid out and hidden in a stubby stalk behind the steering wheel.  It's the same on our Renault, except they hide the radio buttons on those. 4.  The ride and handling is extremely weird.  Somehow both crashy and floaty with 1980s style understeer. Probably one for the school run and shopping, as long as you've got flippers for hands.
  • Vauxhall astra 1.9 - Astra electric issues 24 Oct 2021 (Forum)
Hi, My astra has developed a strange fault in which upon turning the key ignition 2 clicks the dash lights don't come on no fuel pump noise or anything no ignition whatsoever. Radio, horn and front lights don't work, rear lights work and so does the electronic boot unlock button and interior lights. Car does not start no crank nothing. From what I can tell the front fuse box isn't powering anything but the rear fuse box is (boot, inside lights etc).

  • SEAT Leon X-Perience / Mercedes B - Cars with good legroom for 6 foot cops? 4 Oct 2018 (Forum)
have left several taller-than-average patrol cops with stiff joints and muscles and risks of very serious long term harm, as the perspex security screens leave hardly any legroom or fore-and-aft movement when a fully tooled-up cop is in the front (think belt, handcuffs, radio, pistol and more than a few pre-retirement doughnut-bellies.) The police unions are calling for all 200 cars to be sent back. So which cars these days offer the greatest amount of legroom and fore and aft movement  - so much so that a plastic screen could be accommodated easily?
  • New cars - 'infotainment' screens 20 Sep 2017 (Forum)
The 'big thing' seems to be the display screens (anything up to 12") which control everything from radio to heating/ac to navigation. The controls in my car are simple - hit a button, turn a knob, which you can do without taking your eyes off the road. My cheapo Garmin satnav sits at the bottom of the windscreen, in line of sight but not obscuring it or distracting.
  • Rover 600 - Getting a flat tyre on the M62 19 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Ahh the joys of travelling, as I progressed along the M62 on Monday evening I was aware of a steady 'tick' 'tick' 'tick' that wasn't from the radio and then it progressed to 'thud thud thud' and I knew I had a flat tyre... So the car is 18 years old, but I'd replaced the spare tyre earlier in the year as it still had the original (date code was xx98) so I knew I had a decent spare.
  • Nissan Almera Tino 05 - Centre Console+Centre Control NOT working ..FIXED 21 Mar 2017 (Forum)
PROBLEM: So there I was driving along listening to my CD when the CD Player and Centre Display which shows the time, radio, Blowers etc when off.... • Peugeot 406 - intermittent non start and run on 2 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Hi, i would like to request some advice for my car , it is a 2002 406 2.0 hdi 110, a couple of times in the last 2 weeks when i have come to start it in the morning it turns over fast but the engine doesnt fire then after a few attempt it eventually starts , i`m not sure if it a coincidence but the radio had to put on standby before it would fire , any how it can then be ok for a couple of days then it will struggle again , when it does finally start the idle is a little lumpy similar to if there was a glow plug down and then it will settle , yesterday it did the non start thing and eventually fired up but when it came to turn the car off the engine kept running for about 4 seconds then turned off , ive been out today and there hasnt been any problem , started first time and turned off fine , there are no power issues , when it is running it is perfect , its just the ocassional difficult starting and the run on after the key has been turned off , i am going to try and get it scanned this next week but as the engine light hasnt been on i`m not sure if anything will be found , i hope someone can assist and advise , thanks in advance , simon
  • DS5 - Farewell 30 Jan 2017 (Forum)
Keyless, EPB's, ambient lighting and cruise control - only when they've gone do you realise how good they are! New stuff, DAB radio is fantastic as is filling up with petrol again!  I can now rest my conscience knowing I'm not chucking out loads of particulates and am getting 49 petrol mpg instead of the 42 diesel I was getting.
