AWD Estate Car 4 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I can think of only the Jaguar X-Type 2.5V6 (thisty) and Volkswagen Passat 2.0TDI 4Motion (ok I suppose) as well as the new Honda CR-V (not very 4x4 like and acceptable). I originally suggested the Audi Quattro range but they were not keen. Am I missing anything out or does anyone have any suggestions? Would a rear wheel drive car with a decent traction control system do the trick? Current vehicles are quite old and therefore probably not up to date in this sense. -
Good driving = happy commuter! 10 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Not a big deal really, but normally when I try and keep a safe gap (not lane hogging at all!) I am tailgated/undertaken by the BMW/Audi behind so I felt strangely grateful for this display of courtesy. I felt like saying thank you for making one days commute that little bit less stressful. I must be getting old.... -
BMW 535d Vs... the world (Stig lap times 5 Feb 2007 (Forum)
The BMW 535d beat lots of very quick motors, including (but not limited to): BMW M3 / Nisan 350Z / Merc SL 55 AMG. More alarmingly, it was within less than 2 seconds of beating the Honda NSX, 911 turbo, Audi S4, Imprezza STI. Is this a compelling arguement for the torque vs. BHP diesel brigade or am I missing something here - I know that the Beemer is a good car but you'd think round a track that some of these cars (like the 911) should be all over it? -
lowdown on rear vision 17 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Wonder if the C30 will appear as 5 door eventually? It's a great looking car and should give models like the too expensive Audi A3 and the weird looking BMW 1 series some cause for concern. BTW, has the C30 really got Focus mechanics? EH -
Sneaky Focus question, you will love it! 4 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Anyway, because we cry poverty, they will question why a 2000 Focus has gone and been replaced by a 2005 Audi A2!!! My wife has a cunning plan, tell them that the car has mechanically failed in some way and it is actually cheaper to invest in a new car than repair the old one. Problem is, the Focus has just passed its MOT. -
Mercedes C class build quality 7 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Both were rectified under MB warranty without a quibble by a local MB dealer (although the second issue needed a modified wiring harness), however I am having second thoughts on my buy (only done 29k)- should have stuck to BMW or Audi? -
Are you at work? Keys in your jacket? 9 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Just had a message from my wife that a friend's husband has just had his car stolen. Thieves walked in to his workshop, took his jacket and found his keys. His Audi is now in the hands of someone else. Also in the jacket were his house keys. Chances are there is a piece of paper in the car with his home address on so he's also just been with a locksmith for a couple of hours. -
New Lex IS200 6 Sep 2005 (Forum)
The 3-series is ugly and noisy at motorway speeds... C-class too old and Audi's A4 not too good value for money. So we're all waiting for the new Lex IS200, aren't we? I hope this time around it'll come with dual climate control and better ride - just recently a friend of mine gave me a lift in his current shape version on standard 205/55 R16 and guess what ? -

Should I buy 323ci on ebay 27 Jul 2005 (Forum)
What should I look for if I decide to view the car. Are there any particular problems with this model. Finally my current vehicle is a 1999 V Audi A3 1.8 T Sport which has covered 103,000 miles what would I be likley to achieve in a private sale? -
Sat nav choice 27 May 2005 (Forum)
Any other observations on advantages and drawbacks to look out for would also be gratefully noted. Here, we'd want to use the thing in an Audi A4 and a Mitsubishi jeep. -
New Car - Running It In? 12 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I've just bought a brand new Audi A4 - and am unsure if I should 'run it in' for the first few hundred miles? I've never had a brand new car before and wasn't given any guidance from the dealership when picking up the car (admittedly I was far too excited to be thinking about asking sensible questions). -
VW TDi fuel pump bolts 13 Dec 2004 (Forum)
or four-cylinder diesel engines that were built between March and August of this year. The recall affects the Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda brands, the company said. Volkswagen said a defect during the manufacturing process of a bolt on the cover of the fuel pump could, ?in isolated cases,? lead to the bolt breaking ? -
condensation inside of headlights covers 19 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Hi, I am in the process of buying a used A3 (1.8 T, 2001) from approved Audi dealer. When doing the check around the car, I noticed there was condensation on the inside of the clear plastic sheet part that covers the headlights. This was only on the right hand light, the other one was fine. -

Damage from road chipping 4 Mar 2004 (Forum)
My brother was driving his well cared for Audi A4 towards a roundabout. The road had been covered with the sharp chippings that are to prevent skidding. He heard a terrific noice underneath the car form the chippings. When he got home he noticed that the whole front of the car and the windscreen had been peppered with these chippings. -
Burning oil 6 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I raise this question as my sons BMW 330Ci, with only 20k miles from new, is burning a litre of oil every 2k miles, which quite frankly, I consider is totally unacceptable. If you compare this to his previous car, Audi A4 2.8 quattro, which only managed 1 litre per 1k miles, it is an improvement, but when I compare this with my brother-in-laws Mazda 323, that has covered 167k miles and still does not burn a drop of oil between 6k mile changes. -
Clarkson on Skodas 30 Aug 2003 (Forum)
He assessed the build quality as on a par with a Fiat and the quality of the materials as a "notch or two down on VW or Audi" He summed up "But no matter how many times we're told differently. Skoda is still the crappiest badge that money can buy. Telling people you have one marks you out as someone with no style at all" Fair comment? -
New Paint Protection 19 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Any ideas of the best way to protect paint on a new car? Specifically I will be using roof bars and a bike rack hung off the back of my new Audi A3 when it arrives. I?d always put some extra coats of polish around the contact areas on previous cars but I believe a new car shouldn?t be polished for a while to allow the paint to harden. I have a bottle of Halfords New Paint Sealer which claims to be safe on new cars but I? -
Lambo V A8 27 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I'm not very good at posting links, however in todays Daily Record there is a story about a guy who bought a brand new Lambo Murcielago, even went to Bologna to see it being built. When he arrived there he was taken to the factory in a new A8. He has since went into his local Audi dealer in Glasgow in his Lambo and traded it in for a brand new A8. Apparently he felt uneasy leaving it parked in the streets of Glasgow. Needless to say, the dealer paid him a balance! Whilst he was in , someone else came into the dealer and offered money for the Lambo!!
