  I have a 1998 (S-reg) Peugeot 306 cabriolet which was shunted from behind damaging the bumper & rear panel. The bodyshop have quoted £1400 to get the repairs done and they are not sure if the boot lid needs replacing as well.

  I own a 2.0 tdci 130 Mondeo and have found that it is now producing lots of black smoke under acceleration, once i reach 70mph and from there on the car seems to hesitate and "two`s and fro`s" hope you understand what i mean. The car has an intercooler hissing under acceleration and i cannot hear the turbo (because of the cooler noise) is this normal? Is this the same for other TDCI owmers?

  Am I the only one cringing at the wallet busting scenarios concerning FAP and Common Rail, that appear daily on `Technical`? There`s Screwloose doing a wizards job with often sparse initial detail - you know- a bit of eye of newt and hair of dog - stirred into the pot in an attempt to get the codes, more info and even solid blocks of concrete like text paragraphed.

  OK, maybe you`re wanting to write `change the filter` and so on.. but you can`t be let off that easily...;) Maybe the answer is only the presenting question. If belief is the price of sentience, what`s going on in the fuel system and do you really want to intervene? ;)

  Cars surging past on full turbo boost, then braking heavily at the next roundabout. Made me wonder, where`s the evidence of concern for saving money? Everyone was really flooring it on the ring road this AM. (As always) You could almost hear the pedals being thwacked to the floor as they surged alongside turbo`s hissing, braking, surging and then dropping back at times due to lack of anticipation.

  I have tried to measure the output from each sensor, but they only give a reading of 0.1 to 0.3 mV at speeds between 10 and 30 mph, and the readings are inconsistent. This applies to both rears and the n/s front (I haven't tried to measure the o/s front). The only possible fault I can see is that one of the new rear sensors isn't quite fitted flush with the face of the hub casting. It looks like there could have been some dirt there when it was fitted, and I can get a 0.015" feeler in between it and the hub casting.

  I turned it down as vouchers have a funny habit of ending up in somebody else's pocket. Goodness knows how I am going to be able to sneak the M&S vouchers and buy wine with it, there could well be a pressing and as yet undiscovered need for more towels or worse... MGs

  The S-Max does have a 3.5mm Aux in plug that I can link the Ipod to the car through but what is the best way to do this? Is a line from the headphone socket into the Aux in OK or should the line into the Aux in really come from the connection at the bottom of the Ipod for better sound quality.

  t be: - Living in rural areas, unless there is decent public transport or they are allowed personal mobility at an affordable price - Travelling/driving much for leisure/pleasure purposes - Enjoying so much wealth, because the UK has become expensive and uncompetitive, and the economy has slowed ? certainly in relation to other countries, most of which have not taken such draconian steps. It?s got this way through legislation by successive governments. Is this the way to save the planet, or is it Hell? Maybe it?s both. How much will (people let) happen and by when?

  Hi All, Thinking of changing my Rover 620ti and have narrowed it down to two choices: 51 / 02 Mondeo 2.5 ghia x Or 51 / 02 Omega 2.6 cdx Both will be noticably slower than the Rover, but will be more refined so it?s a trade off I'm willing to accept. Trouble is I cant decide which one to go for. I know that chances are the Omega will have an auto box - is it possible to have fun driving a car so equipped are there any techniques to spice things up?

  Now the problem is that I have used the bottle of goo, so I need a replacement so I 'can have another puncture' ... off to the parts dept. Sorry, can't find a replacement under Galaxy, so 'we' try the S-Max and yes there is the goo, but I can only buy a whole kit costing £127!!! Yep, that's all they had no way to buy the goo on its own. After a little discussion, I was given a bottle from an S-Max in the showroom.

  The wife?s car had picked up 3 mega chips in the front bumper (her) plus a scrape about 6 inches by 2 (me). The chips were amazing. They appeared to have gone clean through a top skin of plastic and into some black, coarser plastic beneath.

  I appreciate it is dangerous to be on the hard shoulder, but is the Highways Agency answer to this ?slow down traffic so it?s at a standstill. Nothing will hit the broken down car then?? Rant over?

  m going for that one, but they biggest worry and question is will it need programming to the car, Peugeot say yes, and it will cost £96, I said that?s a bit steep isn?t it, he said its one hour labour charge, yet it will probably take 5 mins, Does anyone know if this is true and if so where can I get it done cheaper, or can I do it myself?
