Small Automatic Cars - palmbeach
My daughter has had an operation on her left leg and now finds it difficult to use the clutch during a long drive. So she is looking for an Automatic small car. Her previous cars were both Pug 206`s. She would like a change of style from these, but as we are not very knowledgable on the market, can anyone recommend a suitable vehicle that they have had experience of?

What kind of budget?

Honda Jazz is well regarded, both for itself, and for the CVT auto version. It's a very nicely put together car (we have a manual version) but they're fairly expensive new (£11K ish for auto) and don't seem much cheaper secondhand (unless you're trying to sell one, of course!).

11K is to high. As with all daughters, the budget is whatever dad can afford. Thinking of 8K ish for nearly new. Best we can get for low cash basicly.

There are a variety of small automatics and for £8000 you can get new, almost new or older bigger ones.

New include the Suzuki Wagon R+ and the Daihatsu Charade and possibly the Hyundai Getz (you'll need a little discount for that one). All very well built reliable cars.

Almost new gets you into the bracket of really good cars like the Honda Jazz, Ford Fiesta, etc. Avoid French automatics and Vauxhall do a Corsa with a semi-automatic with no clutch but you move the gearlever yourself.

You can get some nice cars for £8,000. For that Money, you could well be into Honda Civics and Toyota Corollas which ae about three years old.
