Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - 05 1.6 diesel. fails start in cold/starting probs 9 Feb 2010 (Forum)
After no start today was hauled back to garage today, they wonder if air in system/ but have also suggested supermarket fuel may be to blame - but last fillup was 30litres of Shell Diesel after which we did 125 miles fine! Currently at injector specialist being looked into. Can anyone offer some helpful comments? -
Driving slower 21 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I know this point has been discussed widely before, but I thought I'd share my experience: With petrol now at almost £5/gallon (I avoid motorway filling stations), the actual cost just for fuel in my Legacy 2.0R is about 15p per mile (at 33 MPG). This is quite a shocking statistic in itself and makes walking to the local corner shop to buy milk, (at twice the supermarket price) look good value! -
Benefits of Optimax... 28 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Anyway, came home yesterday, filled up at the local Geant Casino (supermarket) and put in some of the Unleaded 98 fuel at about .98Euro/l. Made it home last night with at least 25% of the tank left! Only difference on the drive back was that the first 40miles were taken at about 50km/h not 130km/h due to the sudden snow storm and lack of gritted motorway! -

Renault Megane II (2002 - 2008) - 03 1.6 Exhaust Gas Monitor (Petrol Engine) 18 Jan 2010 (Forum)
And, more importantly, how expensive it may be? Just as an aside, I'd put an tenner's worth of supermarket fuel in about ten miles before the light came on - not sure if that's related but you do hear stories.... Thanks in advance. -
Jeep Grand Cherokee - LPG Availability 22 Apr 2013 (Forum)
If ASDA does carry out this action then it will involve further mileage searching for a garage that offers this fuel. I had my Jeep converted way back when the then Labour Gov were promising all kinds of benefits for this fuel... but like most politicians idea it was another lie. If only we had the same level of LPG availability that Europe has. -
Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - High mileage honda accord 22 May 2008 (Forum)
However, my budget could only buy those with high mileage from 80,000 upwards. Due to reliability, I think I prefer ex fleet to privately used from supermarket dealers. Is that right? Any other options? More specifically , I have found one petrol engine one with 2 previous owner and 82,000 mileage for 5,300 pounds but with official combined fuel consumption of 35mpg while I found another accord diesel based with 52,000 mileage for 7,300pounds with combined fuel consumption of 54mpg. -
Diesel fuel rip-off 1 Sep 2005 (Forum)
We diesel car owners are being ripped off by the oil companies. I have kept records of how the diesel price per litre is made up and it is clear that the... -
Mercedes W124 advice welcome 18 May 2005 (Forum)
It has had one owner, 78k warranted miles, auto/air con/leather and in all round good clean and sound condition. Just a hint of a fuel leak form the top of the fuel filter, for which it is going in to my local, trusted garage at the end of the week. After a weekend of polishing and cleaning it looks very presentable, just a couple of supermarket dings for dentmaster or whoever to sort. -

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.8TDCi car cutting out at speed 10 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Purchased a ford Focus TDCi about 4 months ago and it ran fine with no problems. Local garage changed the fuel filter about a month ago and for about a week it started and ran ok no problems, some of these journeys covered over a 100 miles in a single trip. Short trip to local supermarket refused to start but left for 30 minutes got it going, then it cut out dead on return journey at speed which was frightening as all power was lost. -

A bit of bother in La Belle France right now. 11 Dec 2018 (Forum)
Just an update, if anybody is planning to drive to and/or across France in the immediate future, be aware that the yellow jacket( Gilets Jaunes) protest movement have published plans on FB to close the country down on the 10th of December if their demands are not met. Fuel stations are short of fuel right now due to blockades of refineries and distribution depots, this will probably get worse. Details of their plans in pidgin english:- This message was given this morning from a giletsjaune group… “We address the population, it’s calm before the storm! -
Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 07-10-2017 Part 1 3 Sep 2019 (Forum)
I did have each serviced by BMW at the correct service intervals which might have had something to do with it. Oh, and both diesels ran on 'supermarket' fuel the whole time. -
Ford Mondeo - Mondeo/Vectra 2005 - petrol or diesel? 24 Jan 2014 (Forum)
we are usually short runs (10 miles return) with occasional big trips, but like the comfort of a car Mondeo/Vectra sized - hatchback slightly preferable for the supermarket car park. :-) . Never owned a diesel before because they were always much pricier to buy. BUT.... in the age range we are looking at (about 2005 reg) the diesel cars are the same price or cheaper to buy, which means that with lower fuel consumption a diesel may be a good idea. -
Vectra P-Reg - Dash & Brake Lights Failure, Not A Blown Fuse 20 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Today, i was in my dad's Vectra and the dash went off, no lights, no nothng at all. Speedo, temp guage, fuel guage, indicators...Everything went off. I was pulled by the Police just after it and to be told i had no brake lights either, i told the officer that my dash had also just gone off (the timing was really bad) and thankfully, they let me go but only after following me to the local supermarket car park and parked it there. -
