  I am due to change the oil in my car soon. I have 2 part used 5l cans of oil (same spec and brand) which total up to 4 litres. I need 4.5 litres for the change so I have purchased some additional oil to the same spec as the oil I already have, but from another maker. Question is - is it OK

  I recently changed the oil on my Pug 406 HDI, due to error on my part I assumed the recommended oil was Castrol Edge 0/30w(or similar). Reading the castrol site this morning I realise the correct oil is 5/40....... Should I change it or will it be ok for another couple of thousand miles? Ta

  6 months ago i had an oil and filter change done by kwik fit thay charged me £18, today i went back for the same only to be told it is £28, it seems that they want to give me the more expensive oil yet 6 months ago they saw fit to give me the cheap stuff..i have a 1.8 diesil fiesta 4 door 1989

  Like HJ, I have always changed engine oil and filter annually but why don't dealers encourage this? For a 19 plate 2.lt  petrol A3 with only 8k miles (due to lockdown) I shall give it a miss on this occasion, £229 was the price quoted!! and another dealer slightly further away

  Need to change the oil in my VW PAssat TDI. Can i jack up the car, undo the sump, lower the car and let it drain. Jack-up again, re-fit the sump, lower and then re-fill. My way around not having axel stands or ramp! Practical? Also, what about Shell Optimax vs Gastrol. What do B-roomers put

  the dealer who services it uses 10w-40 (no idea why, he's also a Ford dealer so you'd think he'd have supplies of the thinner oil!). Do other BR's think that I'd improve things if I changed to the thinner oil or would the difference be negligible? Thanks & Regards
