  Manheim reports that used car values fall by 4.4% in 2010 17 Jan 2011 (News)
  Examples of falls in values for Fleet in December include Small Hatchbacks down 2.1% (£85) to £3,985, Medium Family vehicles down 6.1% (£333) to £5,091, Large Family down 11.5% (£559) to £4,294, Compact Executives down 4.4% (£360) to £7,809 and Mini MPVs down 5,9% (£281) to £4,460. Dealer part exchange prices for Small Hatchbacks fell by 4.2% (£78) to £1,776, Executives down 2.6% (£94) to £3,451 and Mini MPVs down 2.2% (£46) to £2,027.

  The 16 cars have been selected by winning top honours at their Club’s national events and cover an incredibly diverse range of cars, with a combined value of over £500,000. The finalists include British favourites from the likes of Mini, Jaguar and MG, alongside Volkswagen’s icon Beetle and world-beating Golf.   Sunday 3 August delivered a second dose of racing action and on-and-off-track entertainment. The Mini Coopers that set the pace on a wet Saturday duelled for the lead again in Sunday’s Historic Touring Cars race, before the Ford Lotus Cortinas and Warren Briggs’ menacing Mustang powered to the front of the field.  AC/DC’s Johnson made it two top ten finishes in as many races, hustling his Mini Cooper to eighth overall and class victory.

  BMW to manufacturer engines for i8 sports car in the UK 12 Jun 2012 (News)
  .  The factory, which last week celebrated the production of the three-millionth engine since it opened in February 2001, currently builds engines for MINI models as well as BMW models such as the 1 Series and X1. The i8 will use a three-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine that's combined with an electric drive system to produce  349hp/300Nm.  Its 0-62mph time is said to be under five seconds, combined with the fuel consumption of under approximately 78mpg.

  At 43 per cent, it means that this version of the DS3 has the same residual value as the MINI Cooper 1.6-litre with Pepper Pack. Against the Alfa Romeo Mito 1.4TB Veloce and Abarth Grande Punto 1.4 Turbo, it performs even better. The Mito will be worth 37 per cent of its value after the same period, while the Grange Punto will be worth just 32 per cent.

  He’ll be joined by racing legend Barrie ‘Whizzo’ Williams - the first driver to win an international rally in a Mini Cooper S in 1964 Welsh International Rally in the iconic 120MNP. The Cooper Car Company began life in 1946 when Charles Cooper and his son John Cooper together with friend Eric Brandon began building race cars in Charles’ garage in Surrey.

  Mercedes 190SL Makes £47,000 in Barons Classic Car Auction 24 Sep 2012 (News)
  A splendid Bentley MKVI found an appreciative owner at £19,600, while a Morris Cowley ‘Bullnose’ Tourer, once rescued from a breaker’s yard, looked like an excellent buy at £11,492.  The ’lockup find’ 1961 Oselli Mini was bought by an internet bidder for £5,600 and the Rover 114 Cabriolet that had covered just 4,000 miles since 1997 looked amazing value at just £2,812. All three British motorcycles sold, with the 1961 Norton Dominator fetching £4,500, the 1961 BSA A7 £3,372 and the 1971 BSA A65 £2,300.

  It had been a very successful car for Rover despite sharing much of its shell and platform with the original 1980 Austin Mini-Metro, along with its fluid-sprung Hydragas suspension. But, fun as it was to drive, the Metro felt very old fashioned alongside new 1990s rivals such as the Fiat Punto, Vauxhall Corsa and Nissan Micra K11.
