VW "the automotive Apple". 15 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I assume this particular VW shop won't sell you their goods right there and then, instead providing a no-pressure showroom experience, and a polite push around current finance deals. Even though I have no need for a change of car, I had a nosey around the shiny black Up! at the front. -
Honda Jazz - Need help on a Deal on a Honda Jazz... 11 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I am a mostly a cash buyer and am not get a whole lot in return, and in order to get this "deal" I am tied into a financing plan where I have to borrow more than I really need. I am sure he can wiggle. My two questions are as follows... A) is this a good deal? B) if this ISNT a good deal what should I counteroffer? -
Seat Ibiza SC SE Copa 1.4 - Brand New Car - Design Characteristic 11 Aug 2011 (Forum)
I do not want to settle for a car that has a water feature as a "Desing Characteristic" I have got the car on a PCP finance agreement and have so far paid around £1400. What is my next step? Am I entitled to return the car & get a refund - I have only done 500 miles in it and it isn't even 2 months old!!! -
Ford and Volvo - How do some dealers actually stay in business? 20 Mar 2011 (Forum)
No car to trade-in, and the new one will be a contract hire via the manufacturer's own business finance house, so a nice bit of commission for the dealer, plus ongoing locked-in service revenue. Yet a major Ford dealer let me down, having promised a car matching my requirements for delivery in February. -
Skoda Superb and others - Best choice of car for Executive/Chauffeur work 23 Feb 2011 (Forum)
In addition, can anyone advise on the best sources for such cars in the (West) Suffolk area, either dealerships or internet-based e.g. car supermarkets, and also whether buying outright would be more viable than buying on finance, bearing in mind that with potentially high mileage being undertaken, the re-sale value would now doubt fall rapidly. Ideally I'm looking for a maximum budget of approx £10 - 12K Many thanks in advance for your assistance. -
VW Golf 2003 1.9 TDi - Graunchy Noises when accelerator depressed 15 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I have a 2003 Golf 1.9 TDi which has recently had a good deal of loving care and attention (and finance) spent on it... Having recently had new front brakes (discs and pads) and new wheel bearings (front) amongst other things, which has solved a variety of graunchy noises, now - starting after about 2 miles of a journey - when I depress the accelerator, I get a kind of intermittent grinding noise coming from the front of the car. -
Ford Focus - Cooling fan problems 30 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I have asked for a replacement vehicle as I feel this fault has gone on long enough. This was rejected by the dealer. After speaking to the finance company involved with my car they advised me to reject the car. This was also knocked back by the dealership. I do alot of miles a week and feel that the fault could be serious. I'm not very technical with cars, I was just hoping I could get some advice what I could do next thanks -
Returning to UK with new baby. What car for £6K? 26 Mar 2010 (Forum)
One of my first tasks will be to buy us a car. My budget limit is £6K (don't want to take on extra financing at this stage). We have also just had a baby boy. So, I am looking for a reliable car that: 1. is big/flexible enough to carry bulky baby gear with ease (eg push chair, travel cot, nappy bag), along with shopping, car seat and so on. -
Need something more comfortable 13 Feb 2010 (Forum)
It would appear that the slightly off set driving position of my Megane (2000 model) is aggravating an old back problem I thought I had long since got over. Specialist suggests changing the car before further damage is caused. However finances at present are not fantastic, and realistically I am looking at sub £2k territory. The Megane was/is a great find - a reliable Renault with one owner, full service history and virtually unblemished. -
09 plate winners and losers 14 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Obviously it's hard to tell with vanity plates, but I haven't seen any 09 plate Range Rovers, 7 series Beemers, very few MPVs and ever fewer hot hatches (although the latter may be due to young male drivers not being able to get finance). What have you seen (or not, as the case may be)? -
Volkswagen - VAG 2.0 PD TDI engines - are they trouble? 21 Jul 2008 (Forum)
The saga with the in-laws car choice continues - they've cooled off on the Volvo V50 for a while, and having rejigged some finances, are now considering a new mkV Golf 2.0TDI estate. I have been rather alarmed by some of the admittedly anecdotal evidence that I've been privy to recently with regard to this engine. One of the guys at work had HGF on his 55 plate Audi A3 2.0TDI a few months ago, and another had oil pump drive failure on a 2.0 TDI Passat. -
Urgently need a good runner for less than £4k 1 Jul 2008 (Forum)
So I want to get a good runner that eats motorway miles in some type of comfort - Im thinking of getting a car to last me for this job and then will sell on in 2009 and buy a car that I can research etc. Right now I just need wheels! I have a budget of between £3 to £4k (dont need finance) Need to deal within this week (currently have car hire) I am currently doing 500 miles-ish per week and will be for the next 5 months or so so that will be 10 to 12k miles added to the clock. -
What sports saloon 5-7k 6 Nov 2006 (Forum)
In turn, this means that I can't afford to buy any of the cars I had my eye on (Alfa 156 GTA, Volvo S60R, Volvo S40T5) as I don't really want to get any finance, and they're all £10k+ So, with the following criteria, what possible cars are there for me? Price: £5-7k 4 or 5 door Reasonably pacey. I'm not too into speed, but I reckon if it was a lot slower than the Coupe I'd find it irritating. -
Newer 4x4 Ideas? 24 Jan 2006 (Forum)

Moron flatmate sells car without V5 22 Feb 2005 (Forum)
The car in question in this doesn't and didn't belong to me. A friend of mine works long hours in the finance industry in the West End and lives in Essex. He owned a fairly tired 89 Sapphire 2000E that he arranged to sell for £100. Unfortunately, he couldn't be there when the buyer came to view the car and so left it to his flatmate. -
Buying a Pre-Reg'd car 17 Dec 2004 (Forum)
So if I decide to buy a car in the next few weeks whether it be this or something else, what are the recommended 'tricks' to get the best deal/lowest price that I can? It will be a straight cash deal, no finance or part exchange. -
Changing cars, but not p/xing. Options? 23 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Especially if the price means that I need the money from selling the Alfa to afford the new Coupe? Some sort of bridging loan (possibly on top of finance if I choose to go that way)? A deposit on the Fiat with an agreement to pay balance and pick up car in x days? (But how likely is a seller to agree to that?) I'm sure plenty of other people have been in this situation, how did you deal with it? -
Renault Selections PCP 27 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I have been looking into trading my Scenic in for a new model, (6 months old used model) however conventional finance is too dear for me just now. Dealer is trying to push me onto Selections saying that there are sweetners from renault and giving me the usual sales pitch. I must admit it sounds good but a couple of things make me wary 1. -
Pretty poor salesmen 3 Feb 2004 (Forum)
( Yarises) , agreed a good deal on the extras she wanted , allowed an immediate no strings test drive on a busy Saturday and didn't try to stitch her up on the finance... Mind you he didn't get the chance because she'd done all her homework and was prepared with the right questions. The loser was the dealer who persisted in ignoring her and talking to me as if she didn't exist. -
Berlingo MUltispace/Partner Combi 25 Nov 2002 (Forum)
The Pug Partner Combi HDI is more expensive, but the basic model comes with more gizmos, and cheaper add-ons (nearly £200 less to add ABS). Best of all though is that Peugeot are offering a 0% finance deal over three years, with a deposit of £1500. On this basis, the Pug is better value. We actually have enough cash, but this will save us more in lost interest than our estimated bangernomics replace and/or repair budget of £500 per annum, and we are very tempted.
