Any - Buying Out Of A PCP 16 Jul 2017 (Forum)
I know that dealers get commission on PCP etc. deals. I'm not really keen on PCP and have borrowed £10,000 at 3.6% from my bank to finance my purchase. Questions: 1. Are there any problems in buying a car on PCP to take advantage of extended warranty, dealer contribution, etc., then settling it (paying it off) a month or so later? -
From The Daily Mail - Credit Bubble Real Trouble 28 May 2017 (Forum)
Read more: http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-4512474/Loans-let-drivers-minimum-wage-buy-19-000-car.html#ixzz4hLdnDt6V Earlier this month, reports emerged that The Car Finance Company, one of the country's biggest lenders to people with poor credit histories, may be in difficulty after six of its directors resigned. But what you may not know is that your lender also charges you interest on the £8,000 you would have to pay at the end of the deal if you want to own the car outright (the so-called balloon payment). -
Ford Mondeo Estate - 2nd Hand Estate buying guide 3 Oct 2016 (Forum)
New company does not offer a company car scheme but is paying a sign on bonus that will leave me with 6,000 after tax to buy a new car, don't want any finance. I will be commuting for 1.5 hours a day on mostly dual carriage ways and motorways, only a little on country roads. Need an estate as lots of boot room needed for 2 kids stuff, bikes etc... and we do a lot of camping. -
who maintains a cheap old car 30 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I am getting insulting comments about both of them with garages telling me they might not be worth repairing and friends saying it is time I got new ones. I find this annoying, just because most people are financed up to their eye balls? They even try make me feel guilty by saying the car may not be safe (NCAP 4 star rated) and looks great to me! Trading vehicles in every 3-5 years is up to you but not economical? -
Vauxhall Astra J 1.4 SRI Turbo - Help needed! Car warranty 27 Feb 2016 (Forum)
I am looking for some much needed advice, any help would be appreciated! So I bought a 2010 plate Astra J in October (4 months ago) on finance from a car dealership. The car has been running without any problem until recently it underwent complete engine failure, without any prior indication of any problem. I mean, no warning lights etc. -
Citroen Jumpy, Peugeot Despatch, Fiat Scudo - What is a reasonable mileage for a van based MPV? 18 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Hello, Well as the Dacia plan did not work (part self employed and new rules for financing) we are now saving up for a used MPV. Seeing plenty of the S-Max/5008/Mazda 5 around (all in the same ball park pricewise but most going over 100,000 miles) but maybe considering a larger van based MPV for business use as well as a family bus. -
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer - Part Exchange at start of PCP deal 4 Apr 2015 (Forum)
The deal I am most interested in only requires a deposit that is about 2/3rds of the approx part exchange value of my current car. Having read a little around the PCP subject I understand that the Finance Companies will not accept deposits greater than a specified figure. My question is - How will the dealer handle this disparity. Are they allowed to massage the figures to either reduce the monthly payment or change the Guaranteed Final Value? -
Can you recommend a small, four-door car? 20 Jun 2014 (Ask HJ)
What would you recommend to replace a Citroen DS3? I need four-doors with grandchildren and I'd like a higher driving position. I'm looking to buy a new... -
Which F-Type Jaguar? 5 Sep 2013 (Ask HJ)
I have made up my mind to buy a new Jaguar F-Type. Which model would you recommend and what added features do you consider worth paying for? -
Ford Focus - Merc SLK - Part ex owned to lease? Unbiased opinions sought 31 Jan 2013 (Forum)
This includes other CC and OD debt, previously was paying £225 a month. So, for the point of this say I am paying £200 a month for the car as new finance is significantly cheaper. I think the car is worth somewhere in the region of 5-5.5k privately but could be less. Only going down in value (see my bias lol). I am thinking of selling to fund a two year lease on an brand new SLK for 24 months. -
VW "the automotive Apple". 15 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I assume this particular VW shop won't sell you their goods right there and then, instead providing a no-pressure showroom experience, and a polite push around current finance deals. Even though I have no need for a change of car, I had a nosey around the shiny black Up! at the front. -
Honda Jazz - Need help on a Deal on a Honda Jazz... 11 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I am a mostly a cash buyer and am not get a whole lot in return, and in order to get this "deal" I am tied into a financing plan where I have to borrow more than I really need. I am sure he can wiggle. My two questions are as follows... A) is this a good deal? B) if this ISNT a good deal what should I counteroffer? -
Seat Ibiza SC SE Copa 1.4 - Brand New Car - Design Characteristic 11 Aug 2011 (Forum)
I do not want to settle for a car that has a water feature as a "Desing Characteristic" I have got the car on a PCP finance agreement and have so far paid around £1400. What is my next step? Am I entitled to return the car & get a refund - I have only done 500 miles in it and it isn't even 2 months old!!! -
Ford and Volvo - How do some dealers actually stay in business? 20 Mar 2011 (Forum)
No car to trade-in, and the new one will be a contract hire via the manufacturer's own business finance house, so a nice bit of commission for the dealer, plus ongoing locked-in service revenue. Yet a major Ford dealer let me down, having promised a car matching my requirements for delivery in February. -
Skoda Superb and others - Best choice of car for Executive/Chauffeur work 23 Feb 2011 (Forum)
In addition, can anyone advise on the best sources for such cars in the (West) Suffolk area, either dealerships or internet-based e.g. car supermarkets, and also whether buying outright would be more viable than buying on finance, bearing in mind that with potentially high mileage being undertaken, the re-sale value would now doubt fall rapidly. Ideally I'm looking for a maximum budget of approx £10 - 12K Many thanks in advance for your assistance. -
VW Golf 2003 1.9 TDi - Graunchy Noises when accelerator depressed 15 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I have a 2003 Golf 1.9 TDi which has recently had a good deal of loving care and attention (and finance) spent on it... Having recently had new front brakes (discs and pads) and new wheel bearings (front) amongst other things, which has solved a variety of graunchy noises, now - starting after about 2 miles of a journey - when I depress the accelerator, I get a kind of intermittent grinding noise coming from the front of the car. -
Ford Focus - Cooling fan problems 30 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I have asked for a replacement vehicle as I feel this fault has gone on long enough. This was rejected by the dealer. After speaking to the finance company involved with my car they advised me to reject the car. This was also knocked back by the dealership. I do alot of miles a week and feel that the fault could be serious. I'm not very technical with cars, I was just hoping I could get some advice what I could do next thanks -
Returning to UK with new baby. What car for £6K? 26 Mar 2010 (Forum)
One of my first tasks will be to buy us a car. My budget limit is £6K (don't want to take on extra financing at this stage). We have also just had a baby boy. So, I am looking for a reliable car that: 1. is big/flexible enough to carry bulky baby gear with ease (eg push chair, travel cot, nappy bag), along with shopping, car seat and so on. -
Need something more comfortable 13 Feb 2010 (Forum)
It would appear that the slightly off set driving position of my Megane (2000 model) is aggravating an old back problem I thought I had long since got over. Specialist suggests changing the car before further damage is caused. However finances at present are not fantastic, and realistically I am looking at sub £2k territory. The Megane was/is a great find - a reliable Renault with one owner, full service history and virtually unblemished.
