1999 Toyota Starlet 1.3 11 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I am about to buy a car to teach my 17 year old daughter to drive in. Her mum has happy memories of learning in a Toyota Starlet 20 years ago. Our neighbour is selling her immaculate 1999 5 door 1300 with 79,000 miles for £1500. We've had a drive and whilst I wouldn't rate it against more modern stuff, its quiet and likely to be reliable. -

Young Driver Accident 19 Apr 2006 (Forum)
A friend of mines sister had a bad car accident on friday evening, she is only been driving for about 3 months and she missed a red light. She was hit on front corner of passenger side of the car, it is possibly a write off, as police are involved what is the worst she could be looking at apart from a huge increase in insurance, I'd imagine she could get 3 points for driving without due care could it be worse? -

Responding to changes in conditions. 19 Dec 2005 (Forum)
There have been a couple of threads recenty from people who have noticed a lack of grip in their tyres over the last few weeks. Has the general public's driving capability really reached such a low that they can't recognise and respond to changes in driving conditions without having to be guided by an internet forum? Perhaps all the electronics in modern cars is to blame, so that people who've never driven a RWD car on cross ply tyres expect the car to be able to take care of them whatever happens. -

Best way to use an auto in heavytraffic? 20 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Hi I had a discussion with some friends a while back about the best way to use an auto in heavy traffic with respect to the least wear and tear on the box itself. 1 of them said its best to leave it in drive all the time as putting it into neutral a lot wears out the actuators, another couple thought it best to put it in neutral if you're stationary for a long time as leaving it in drive heated up the torque converter and could shorten its life. -
Training Wanted 6 Dec 2004 (Forum)
As the new owner of a car with more driving potential than the four door family saloons which have served me well for the past 30 years I think I would benefit from some training. I want to (re)learn how to drive fast and safely, in my own car. -

Parking at stations near M1 and London 19 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Taking the train for the whole route looks like it will be expensive and take forever (engineering works etc). If I drive the whole way are there any relatively cheap parking places in Central London? Or does it make sense to drive to a local station and take the train in - I was thinking about places like Harpenden or Luton but any suggestions would be gratefully received. -

Isnt it nice...... 31 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Reminds me what a pleasure driving can be. When you get this much road to yourself, even the road tax seems worth it. A breath of fresh air and just too good not to mention.
