  • Motors Live TV Race Day, Castle Combe, 7th May 27 Apr 2012 (News)
The Prebble name was also at the front of the Vadabar Sports and GT race last time, with Adam's brother Gary winning outright, a feat rarely achieved by a saloon car. The wet weather was certainly a help to the four wheel drive Mitsubishi Evo, but Gary's skill in the tricky conditions should not be underestimated. Reigning champion Simon Tilling had the new smaller engine of his Radical SR3 singing in the rain last time and in more normal conditions can expect to be an outright rather than a class winner, though the 7 litre Aquila of Salisbury's Nigel Mustill might have something to say about that.
  • Celebrity drivers at Silverstone Classic 18 Jul 2011 (News)
Sally Boazman is slightly less confident of a win, but she’s still relishing the opportunity to race at the famous Grand Prix venue. “It’s going to be a real challenge to drive around Silverstone for 20 minutes and not make a complete pig’s ear of it… which I probably will do! But as I keep saying to everyone, if you come along and watch at least you’ll have a good laugh.
  • Roaring Start to Cholmondeley Pageant of Power 15 Jul 2011 (News)
During the Pageant there will be more than 1,200 cars on static display, and 175 racing cars and bikes will drive 2,550 laps of the Cholmondeley circuit, covering more than 4,000 racing miles. There will be over 2,050 straw bales acting as crash barriers, weighing over 700 tonnes in total, as well as 12 miles of fencing.
  • WORLD BEATING MARCOS AT CASTLE COMBE SEASON OPENER 16 Apr 2011 (News)
Bird debuts a unique new car to the championship in the shape of a 3 litre BMW 130i built to M sport specification. Rear wheel drive should give it an 'off the line' advantage once sorted. Bird's SEAT Cupra Turbo is now in the hands of Atworth's Rob Ballard, run by 2008 champion, Will Di Claudio from Bromham. With Di Claudio's time taken up running other people's cars, life will be easier in Class B for the likes of reigning champion, Nick Charles from Yate, who defends his title with his quick 106 GTi from those such as Bristol's David Kift with a similar car.
  • Manheim Predicts That Used Cars Will Continue to Get More Expensive 5 Mar 2010 (News)
These include:      The continuation of increased retail dealer activity with used car sales during the recession, particularly relating to franchised dealers      The value proposition of used cars which continues to highlight the relative good value of used cars, further emphasised by recent new car price increases      Increasing customer relationship management by dealers to maximise after-sales revenues will create more opportunities to sell more cars – new and used      Increased credit availability as the economy recovers will release more potential buyers back into the market      Significant improvements in product quality and reliability enables more transactions per vehicle across the lifespan of a vehicle      A good used car ‘owning experience’ for those customers who have recently bought a used vehicle rather than a new one, which further increases repeat used car purchase intentions      More fluidity back into the ‘private to private’ market with continued low interest rates, credit easing and a return to more of a ‘feel-good’ factor      Good underlying demographics with steady population growth and a continued increase in the total number of UK driving licence holders.   Honest John comments: "This conveniently ignores the fact that Sterling has declined 30% - 50% against most other World currencies over the past two years.
  • Contradictory Results From Electric Car Consumer Surveys 30 May 2009 (News)

  • Jaguar Jamboree at Beaulieu 4 Apr 2009 (News)
Also on display from this ‘golden age’ is a 1954 Jaguar XK140 Open Two Seater, with chassis Number 2 – the oldest right-hand drive roadster in existence. The 1959 Jaguar Mark lX, is outwardly identical to its predecessor, the Mark Vll which, when unveiled at the 1950 Earls Court Motor Show, was regarded as a triumph of motoring design.
  • BCA Classic Auction at Brooklands on 5th June 26 May 2008 (News)
Estimate is around £35,000. The 1958 MGA roadster is an original UK specification right-hand-drive car and was prepared for historic rallying during 2001. The engine was fully rebuilt, lightened and balanced whilst the gearbox and rear axle also received major attention and a new clutch was fitted.
  • Time Warp Bugatti Type 57 in Guildford Classic Car Auction 25 May 2008 (News)
Returning to the UK, it was then entered in various domestic meetings, but met with little success. By the year's end, Beetson had apparently lost interest in the project and ceased his co-driving duties. Undeterred, Horridge had the Lister re-engineered with a Bristol engine for 1956; while their first few outings were unspectacular, car and driver soon picked up momentum. Despite an unwelcome retirement from the April British Empire Trophy meeting, 1957 promised to be even better, until a coming-together with Lance Reventlow's Maserati at Snetterton on 27 July.

The Kaiser is conservatively estimated at £6,500 - £7,500. Also in the sale, a fabulous right hand drive 1938 Buick 8 Series 40 Trunk Back sedan, estimated at £15,000 - £17,000. • Porsche 997 Sells on eBay for £63,700 26 Aug 2005 (News)
Forgetting the reliability aspects of buying an old TVR, £2,000 for a red 280i Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe, chassis number 10, with 83,000 miles and lots of history could certainly be a hoot. 160bhp may not sound like much from a 2.8 litre Ford engine nowadays but I am sure it makes driving the TVR a memorable occasion. That £2,000 could also have bought another drop-top. This time a slightly modified 1992K VW Golf 1.8 GTi Sportline convertible with 60,000 miles and 11m ticket passed through.

Today’s Car Auction Bidding Calmer After First Week Buying Frenzy 15 Jan 2014 (News)
Variety is now feeding in, with newcomer cars such as Hyundais, KIAs and Nissan Qashqais that started to sell in big numbers three years ago coming through in greater numbers and holding onto their values. Most obviously behind book was a Volvo V60 1.6 DrivE R Design, sold for just £13,700. The bargains were in the part-exchanges. For example, an 07 Ford KA Studio for just £1,075. On the other hand, £4,900 for a 53k mile 3 year old Fiesta 1.2 82PS Edge is bang on book, but it’s what you’d have paid last year for a 2 year old.

  • 2023 Ferrari Purosangue SUV: Prices, specs and release date 18 Mar 2024 (News)
The Ferrari Purosangue will accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.3 seconds, remarkable for such a large SUV, aided by four-wheel drive and an ultra-direct eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. And because V12 engines like to rev and rev – particularly ones unencumbered by turbochargers – Ferrari project leader Gianmara Fulgenzi describes the acceleration as “never-ending”.
  • Unrestored, low-mileage Ferrari ‘Dino’ heads to auction 12 Sep 2019 (News)
Garaged alongside various significant motorcars, including one of the four alloy-bodied, right-hand drive Ferrari 250 GT SWB made (Chassis 3067GT), the Dino earned a special place in their affections and has outlasted all its other stablemates. Entrusted to Graypaul Nottingham on 24 September, 2018, for a thorough service, Chassis 07420 also had its fuel system flushed, brake system fettled and cylinder head gaskets replaced (the latter an engine out job).

.  You can find out more about the cost of VED for any vehicle via this link: https://www.gov.uk/calculate-vehicle-tax-rates Buying or selling your car Car tax is no longer transferrable when you buy or sell a vehicle. There are no exceptions to this, which means that to legally drive home the car you’ve just bought, you need to tax it. You can do this by phone or online at the place of purchase; it’s a simple process, assuming that the V5C – or V5C/2 New Keeper section – is with the car.
