Extended Services/Tuning Boxes 1 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Is there any wonder that buyers of ex fleet and many privately owned turbo diesels run into turbo and fuel pump problems at less than 50k miles on the used car market, and then get an adverse opinion of the vehicle as a result of abuse by the previous owner/driver.??? After visiting BMW forums for some years, it is now common practice for most turbo diesels to run 17k to 20k before oil changes, which (Like H.J.) -
Why don't salesroom staff do more to inform customers about the need to regenerate diesel DPFs? 6 Dec 2010 (Ask HJ)
I’m no great fan of the EU, but I think your reply to GR of Warrington blaming them for the clogging of particulate filters was a bit off the mark. Yes,... -
Vauxhall opel combo 1.7 dti 2003 reg - None starter 25 Jun 2024 (Forum)
Got a van I've had problems with. Changed fuel filter topped the the filter up with diesel, ran for a few weeks now won't start. Been told it doesn't have a lift pump only a high pressure pump in the engine. No faults have come up, tried using a hand primer pump on the pipe that goes into the filter with a blue tag believe that comes from the tank? -

insignia elite ecoflex 2.0 160bhp - Insignia knock 5 Sep 2016 (Forum)
I have a 2012 insignia 2.0 diesel with 35k on clock and get knock/pinking/rattle sound when engine is cold and accelerating at around 2000rpm , as soon as temp gauge hits its normal position the knock/pinking/rattle goes, This only seems to show when weather gets colder as during summer its not there, no fault codes or warning lights have ever shown up, The car is mostly used with shell diesel, engine oil and filter changed recently as it was happening before I changed it. -
Porsche Macan - not sure which to get 1 Jan 2015 (Forum)
I think diesel is going to get taxed a lot in the future due to its excessive particulates. Have driven the diesel Macan which is v g. Did not like to see the extra pipe under the fuel filter cap which has to be charged up every 12K miles and costing £125 each time though. -

Vauxhall Zafira Tourer - DPF on Zafira tourer and S-Max 17 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Hi all, I currently have a 2007 Mazda 5 2.0 diesel which I am planning on replacing with either a Zafira tourer or Ford S-Max. One thing I have never liked about my Mazda is the fact that it dumps un-burnt fuel from failed DPF regens into the oil sump. -
Volkswagen Touareg 2.5 Date 2009. - Diesel particulate Filter 8 Dec 2013 (Forum)
The "engine" warning light came on yellow recently during a long motorway trip to Cornwall. It went off again 2 days later. It returned on the way home.... -
Now what? 20 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I've had it 10 years. I'm now doing 60 miles a day mainly on A roads it's showing its age and the fuel costs are biting. I'd made up my mind to spend somewhere around 7 or 8K and get a 2 yr old used fiesta or focus diesel (possibly an econetic) as seeing as how I intend to keep the car 8-10 years I assumed the better economy and lower tax would be beneficial in the long run. -
Ford Focus c-max - focus c-max buying advice 25 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Your buying advice is very welcome. I've only done about 6000 mile/year over the last 3 years, so am unlikely to get a diesel unless persuaded otherwise. But I'd be interested to hear diesel feedback. What is your experience of the petrol -- particularly of fuel economy on the 1.6 and 1.8? And any thoughts on the trim level? -

Peugeot 406 hdi(90) running problems 27 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I have enjoyed months of happy motoring in my 93000 mile pug 406 diesel, that is, until recently.(2001 Y reg) It is running very rough, very noticeable from cold, and in general lacks power and runs very lumpy (almost like a misfire) My local peugeot dealer plugged it in and said there was nothing wrong with it, so i took it to one of these delphi diesel centres. -
Low End Torque - Petrol engines 7 Dec 2005 (Forum)
As someone who is disillusioned by the complications of the modern diesel engines with their extremely high pressure common rail fuel injection systems and ever higher turbo boost pressures, I intend to switch back to a normally aspirated petrol engine at my next car purchase. -

Developments 20 Mar 2017 (Forum)
All are able to compete with petrol or diesel fuelled cars with respect to range. The only new technology is in the fuel cell, all the other features are taken from battery electric or hybrid vehicles. A local manufacturer has announced the production of an HGV tractor unit that can travel about 1,200 km between fill-ups. -
ford mondeo - Another dodgy mondeo tdci, wont start 24 Aug 2011 (Forum)
I just took a 2003 Mondeo tdci, 130bhp model in p/ex. It came as a non runner (kind of) with 2 sets of injectors and 2 HP fuel pumps. the car would tow off and run fairly smooth at low revs, anything over 2500 rpm and it would cut out and need towing / bumping again. Immediate thoughts are fueling issues. I sent both pumps and all injectors to a well respected bosch and delphi diesel specialist.
