  • New Old Golf 6 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Doing the rounds of the local VW dealers on Friday to find a replacement for my mum's Corolla I was asked if I would consider a new Golf V 105 TDi S without aircon. This would be the older pre aircon car but desirablke nonetheless. Seems the dealer has bought 50 of them from VW. Any idea of true woth for Januray registration. Cheers

I have an S reg. peugeot 406 1.8 L and find that rainwater is collecting in the front passenger foot-well - gallons of it. I have today cleared about 20 litres. There is no sign of any water coming past the door seals and no obvious signs of ingress elsewhere.

  • speed wobbles! Vauxhall Astra 20 May 2004 (Forum)
I\'m getting a lot of vibration/speed wobble at about 65-70 mph, my car had a front end shunt about 18 months ago and a friend suggested I might need to get it \"jigged\"? Also suggestions for uneven tyre wear? What does \"jigged\" involve? It\'s a front wheel drive Astra. Phil
  • Omega fan 16 Apr 2004 (Forum)
I've had a bit of a squeak for some time from the front of the engine. Today, after a long run, the fan(s) continued for a bit after I'd switched off, and I realised the noise was still there, so I now know the cause. Is it i) something I should worry about or ii) something that a quick squirt of WD40 in the right place would cure, if so, where?
  • Omega 2.0CD Estate Automatic. 7 Apr 2004 (Forum)
S reg, can\'t remember which year. 130,000 miles. Full service history to 110,000 when it had all the belts done. Bit of history since then, but not much. Loads of MOT and stuff. No known problems, no damage or rust.

  • '86-'94 Jaguars and TD tyres 19 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Can someone please tell me whether the not-too-successful Dunlop TD tyres fitted to early 'XJ40' Jaguars were abandoned when the 4.0/3.2 litre engines were introduced - or was it done when the catalytic converter was fitted as standard? i.e. were some non-cat 4.0's produced with inch-sized wheels? Thanks
  • Service reminder reset - Astra 10 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Where the milage counter is a warning comes up for a couple of seconds when a service is required when the car is turned on. I\'ve had the service done but they didn\'t reset it for me. It\'s not a major problem just one of those annoying things. Any ideas how to reset this till the next service is due??

  • Mondeo II Recall 11 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Just thought it might be useful to some of you to know that my father\'s 52 plate Mondeo has just been recalled due to a fault with the handbrake assembly. Apparently, in some conditions, the handbrake will just not hold the car, he hasn\'t had any problems yet though.

I have a lot of oil residue under the timing belt cover on my 1995 Micra 1.3 SLX Auto.I asked the garage to fit a new gasket last service but they jsut tightened it and cleaned the residue away. It was ok for a while but now it\'s starting to come back again. Should I insist on a new gasket this year or is there another solution?
  • Better looking estates 20 Jul 2003 (Forum)
What estate cars look better than the saloon or hatch they are based on. My list is Rover 75, New Avensis, Alfa 156, most BMW touring(s), most volvos, new mondeo. And I always loved the look of the old rover 3.5 when they had the non standard estate conversion.
  • Historical Help wanted 24 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Are there any experts out there that have heard of a firm called Bickley Motors. They were active in S London, 1920ish, making bodies for RRs and other chassis. I ask because the owner, a Mr Levett, was my Grandfather, I now have no family that were around in those days to ask. I found a huge tome on coachbuilders in Waterstones but could find no mention in there.
