Looking for a car with high seating 12 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Looking at the autotrader there are cars which disappear in the background, cars you don't think of much like the nissan almera tino or mazda premacy. Ideally would like a 'popular' car so parts will be easy to obtain. Any suggestions? -
Toyota Aygo (2005 - ) - Also applies to C1 & 107 - water pump failure 27 May 2009 (Forum)
You are looking for bright pink staining on all pulleys from the coolant. Toyota have been excellent with us and provided a long term hire car - a Nissan Micra which is IMHO better than the Yaris I drove last week, it's just a pity it's so ugly on the outside! -
De-registering a car, is the dealer being truthful 26 Aug 2008 (Forum)
wonder if anyone can help me. as a lady driver I have recently purchased a new nissan. the dealership organised my cherished transfer etc. when the car arrived in the showroom it was the wrong colour. On telling the manager I didnt want it, he agreed to replace with the correct colour, BUT I would have to write to him for the DVLA a letter stating I no longer wanted the car or that colour, in order for the car to be de-registered and my cherished number used on the correct car when it arrived. -
Help me choose please 15 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I do about 40k miles per year and my budget is £5k and am looking at three cars which seem good deal in one being a Honda 2002 CRV with 80K miles and the two- a 2001 Nissan Primera Sport with 36k miles and lastly 2001 Saab 9-5 with 71K miles. I carry reasonable amount of stuff in the boot and reliability is crucial to me, though regarding the Honda above, I'm concerned about it's current 80k mileage and whether it can cope with myself pushing it to around 200K miles after three years (provided I service it of course).....please advice with whatever opinion you have ? -
Which 4x4 do I go for? 24 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Having tried going back to a car, I miss the drive of the Terracan (or more precisely its space). Therefore I now have a shortlist:- Nissan Patrol 2.8TD - 99/00 ish @ £5-6K Isuzu Trooper 3.0D - 99-01 ish @ £5-7K Toyota Landcruiser 3.0D - 98 - 00 ish @ £5-7K Range Rover - 98-00 ish @ £5-8K Others that I thought about Navara Pickup - bit too basic Ranger/L200/Hilux - ditto, for the year Does anyone have any experience of running these? -
insurance for passenger carrying van 3 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Hi been a longtime lurker on this great site quite regularly nipping in when have time for 10 mins or so, to catch up on whats being said. wonder if any members can help me out with this one.... am having a few problems getting a quote for a 2.3d nissan vanette(window`d version with extra passenger seats, the combi version, manufacturers model)as insurers not recognising it as a car(understandably)yet van insurers wont quote as not strictly speaking a van.......... is for private use and would imagine similar scenario would exist with the very few other similar models available. -
Help replacing my Mondeo 27 Dec 2005 (Forum)
I've decided to replace my 98 Mondeo ST 24 but have already run into a problem; too many choices! I started looking at Audi (A4 and A6), VW Passat, Volvo, Saab, Mazda MX6, Honda Accord, Nissan Primera... not too keen on BMW's or Jags, just because of the type of person who normally drives them -(;0) I've got about £10k to spend, if I get a good trade in on the Mondeo and also shift the Shogun - I've been looking at Diesels for fuel economy, performance isn't too important although I've always loved the V6 sound -(:0). -
Is my QX finally broken? 16 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Furthermore, if the car requires prolong cranking to start, it would also start with a BIG cloud of blue smoke which I can only assume is burnt engine oil. The car is a Nissan QX 3.0 Auto with 145k on the clock. I pulled the fault code from the car and only the knock sensor is noted by the ECU to be faulty. Any suggestion? Many thanks, Gazza -
Your most/least reliable car 16 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Most annoyingly, whenever the battery was disconnected the ECU settings were lost and had to be reset (no battery back-up) by the dealer ! Most reliable car owned - a 1984 Nissan Cherry :-( which was horrible to drive but never let me down and needed only the annual service during the 3 years I owned it. -
Damage to door 19 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I have started to get quotes, but the suggested remedy is not consistent. No.1: (Rover Main dealer): new door skin. No.2 (large bodyshop linked to Nissan/Rover/VW dealer: repair to dents only. No.3 (independant BMW Garage which does bodywork for all makes): new door! The door now has uneven gaps around the edges. I have no prices yet. Can I push for a new door, or will the other insurance company try to go with the cheapest option? -
1993 - L reg Micra starting problems 30 Apr 2004 (Forum)
For nearly 2 years I have had starting problems with my micra predominately when the engine is warmed up, but also now not brilliant from cold. The engine turns over but does not fire and it seems like it is flooding. My Nissan dealer has tried replacing the coolant temperature sensor and putting on the modified wiring harness, but with no improvement! They now want to replace the air flow meter. However, do you think this would make any difference? -
Local bodyshop & Zinc primer 21 Apr 2004 (Forum)
4) The rust is in rear arches and extending to a 1cm x 1cm area on surface facing the side of the car. Car is dark blue metallic Nissan QX. Should I spray paint like using aerosol or should I hand paint? Any advice on the use of brush if hand paint? Any advice welcome. Thank you very much. Gazza -
Primera - Persistent Engine Fault 29 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Curiously, on later start-ups in the same day the car engages normally even when the initial revs are at 1400. I have had the thing investigated by dealers, main distributors and Nissan HQ, and also on their advice repalced the ICV without success. It may be that the ECU is next, but diagnosis by component replacement is expensive and is anyway approaching the residual value of the car, which I cannot in honesty sell on while the fault remains. -
fiesta zetec rattling noise 21 May 2003 (Forum)
Very hard to see where it is coming from but boyfriend seems to think it is coming from somewhere in the central console area i.e. where radio, heater controls are but would be grateful for any insight. Car is obviously under warranty (bought from local Nissan dealership with their full approved warranty). Any ideas???!! -
Full Service History? 5 May 2003 (Forum)
I have recently bought a secondhand car (2001) from a large Nissan dealer. "Just had a full service,Sir" Service record stamped both for this service and last years. I checked the air filter and plugs and both had not been changed. (The air filter looks like it has never been changed) I am concerned that the oil and filter may also have been missed as there is no sign of the drain plug having been recently disturbed. -
renault 21 2.0 gtx 28 Mar 2002 (Forum)
have run the above for 6years and 100 000k (add 97 000k when bought) no major problems (capably of own maint which keeps cost down) until recently. car now struggles to start. every 3 weeks i clean: 1) the crankshaft sensor 2) the inside of the distributor cap (ingress of oil form camshaft) 3) the rotar arm. all ok for a bit then back to 1,2,3. immediatly after 1,2,3 engine starting and choke impeccable. made the classic mistake of off loading to a work mate (bought a nice nissan primera from motorpoint) who has inherited the problems (though fully aware of!) and i would like to help (could have sold to over a dozen anonymous punters but w/mate had first call) any thoughts out there would be appreciated. ta chris -
Electric & Hybrid Cars 12 May 2012 (Forum)
It also amused me how Nissan felt the need to bend the numbers on their advertising in an attempt to make it seem a good buy. When they compare it to a Focus, they use a mileage of 10,000 miles per year. Are you really going to be doing 10,000 miles in a car with an absolute maximum 80 mile range and a 12 hour charge interval? -
Personal buying habits 22 Nov 2023 (Forum)
By the 1980s, BL cars had lost their appeal, kids had become teenagers, and I swapped our fifth Maxi for a Cavalier estate and later a Nissan Prairie, before the 205 got headlines and we switched to the Peugeot brand. That Prairie, as an ex-demo run-out car from a Nissan dealership, was the newest car I have owned, and it served as a bulk carrier while the 'kids' went away to uni. -

Find my daughter an automatic...? 7 Jul 2019 (Forum)
Suzuki SX4 - Torque Converter (T/C) - although tax is quite high at £280 on the autos Suzuki Swift - T/C from what I can find Kia Rio / i20 - T/C Yaris CVT / Verso CVT - not MMT version Mazda 2 - T/C Maybe a Meriva / Astra but not with the Easytronic box -I believe if it isn't Easytronic it is T/C? A Fiesta / Focus / Fusion pre Powershift when they used T/C boxes I think a Nissan Note had a T/C box before it got the self destruct CVT from around 2011? or something else I haven't thought of yet?? As you can see I'm trying to keep away from automated manuals / DCT and the Nissan notorious CVT but is that a good path to be following?
