Hi
been a longtime lurker on this great site quite regularly nipping in when have time for 10 mins or so, to catch up on whats being said.
wonder if any members can help me out with this one....
am having a few problems getting a quote for a 2.3d nissan vanette(window`d version with extra passenger seats, the combi version, manufacturers model)as insurers not recognising it as a car(understandably)yet van insurers wont quote as not strictly speaking a van.......... is for private use and would imagine similar scenario would exist with the very few other similar models available.
Has anyone had similar experiences theyve overcome or can recommend a company that would view this vehicle more favourably.
vehicle itself I know isnt exactly the bees knees but i can ignore its shortcomings as its ok for the purpose i want
thanks in anticipation

Liverpool victoria used to insure our vanette which had a couple of rear seats fitted. Possibly the NFU may be more favorable, also Try ringing the insurers direct.

for my bit i would find an established local broker (yes they do still exist)and get them to trawl for you

thanks for both responses
will try the liv/victoria & as for local broker, the 2 i`ve been using for years for house & other car insurance both either retired or closed down(been squeezed out)last 9 mnth so will try to find another one i can trust and rely on now.
thanks again

I ran a Fiesta van as personal transport for a few years. Lot's of insurers just said "No" when asked for a quote.
Churchill insured it after a bit of umming and ahhing, but they did ask a few extra questions such as "will it be used for carrying tools".

Check Commervial Vehicle Direct - clik DIRECTORIES (to our left) then Useful Websites (to our right, near the top menu) Look in Van Insarance linkd.
Doing it this way, rether than putting a direct link in this respnse, earns HJ a couple of pennies towards keeping this site free!!
They'll sort you out!!

I have a disabled friend who has the same Nissan vehicle. It's equipped to take his wheelchair in the back and has a special ramp which swings up into the rear of the vehicle.
I don't think he's ever had any problems getting insurance and both he and his wife, who drives him around the area, are both rapidly approaching their eighties.

Just been checking and notice that Cornhill does such insurance (disabled carrying vans), but would point out that vehicles such as the Kangoo, Berlingo etc are, in reality, adapted vans and insurance is obviously available.
