Toyota Starlet (1990 - 1996) - Garage Taking too Long to Fix Car - Advice Sought 12 Mar 2009 (Forum)
She took the car back in and after a week asked for a courtesy car to keep her on the road and was given a somewhat battered old punto. It has now been two weeks and the garage have not contacted her about when the car will be ready. -
New Civic - Is Honda going mad? 27 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I have seen pics of the new Civic and really wonder if this is a wise move for Honda. The car looks like it is aimed at the 20-30yr old MP3/Ipod generation almost to the exclusion of other segments. I can't imagine my Dad working out how the dashboard works at all or liking the fact that the new car must be almost impossible to see out of when reversing. -
A6/A4 - Audi A6 or A4 Avant 7 Feb 2012 (Forum)
We both like the look of the last shape (54-08) A4 and larger A6 Avant. This will be the main family car and as such will be driven by my wife in the main as she is about to go off on maternity leave with our second child. We already have a 16 month old monster and need some carrying space. In the main the car will be used for traveling about town and distances within 15 miles or so plus a weekly round trip of 120 miles or so visitng reletives or day trips on my days off from work. -
Renault Scenic - Mid-Life Crisis 8 Nov 2010 (Forum)
What else should I consider??? MGF - do I really want to buy a 10 year old rover? MX5 - isnt that a girls car? RX8 - getting a bit big and maybe too practical What should I be careful about??? Thrashed by boy racer? Expensive maintenance? -
Toyota Avensis (2003 - 2008) - (Clutch & other) problems on Toyota Avensis 2005 14 Jul 2010 (Forum)
To add insult I was also informed that the starter also needs replacing - that would be another £700 please... I find it hard to swallow - that car is now 3.5 year old (3 year warranty), and I would expect an £18k car to last just a little longer... The car has done just over 30k miles so far, and was always serviced at the same garage/dealership . -
FIAT Croma (2005 - 2007) - be honest, am I mad? 15 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hi there It's new (to me anyway) car time. The venerable Camry at 13 years old and 150K is going to be put out to pasture and I'm looking for something new. Bizzarely, after test driving 2 year old (new) Mondeos, (new) Mazda 6's and an Insignia (all well and nice, about £11K ) the car which most caught my eye was a Fiat Croma in a local dealership. -

Insurance for overseas visitors 29 Jan 2008 (Forum)
He is English and does have a very old UK licence, having been in Aus over 30 years, and as a late 50s aussie civil servant with no convictions it is hardly likely to be deathrace when he is over here. I did speak to one broker who would offer insurance if it was a campervan, but not a car! -
Mercedes-Benz 300 SL roadster - First drive if the year 4 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Lovely drive around the kent country side stopping at a pub on the old A20 for a spot of lunch. Many people asking about the car. Was asked by someone if I was willing to sell but seen as it's not mine I'm not in the position to sell. Out of curiosity what do back roomers think it could be worth? -
BMW Z4 3.0 Vs Porsche 987 3.2 - BMW Z4 3.0 Vs Porsche 987 3.2 20 Feb 2016 (Forum)
I have 15K to spend on a great sports car, Top priorities - Something Fast, Great looking, Reliable, and probably a drop top. I'll be doing some hefty mileage (approx 20K a year, 70% motorway, 30% country roads) After research 15K will get me a Porsche Boxster 3.2, about 10 years old with approx 40k on the clock but the Z4 3.0 will be about 6 years olds with about 30K mileage for the same money. -
Ford Fiesta - Fiesta 2010 Powerfold Mirror 29 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Is there anyone who knows how much he will pay for a new complete powerfold mirror with the red casing. He said he won't charge me for fitting it, they will do it when they prep my old car for selling - just for the parts Am very annoyed - I only had to keep it in good order for another 5 days. Cheers -
Volvo V70 - Volvo V70 - older TDI or D5 which is best buy? 18 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Hi all, I need to buy a big estate and seems the V70 is one of the biggest estates around. Havn't got a huge budget ie up to 5K The car must be diesel for economy and I don't want something thats going to end up costing a fortune when it goes wrong. With this in mind, I'm kind of swaying away from the D5 because of the common rail engine and thinking about eiither an old shape V70 TDI (up to W reg) or a new shape from W reg onwards as the old TDI engine was in this newer model for a short time. -
None ... that's the problem - Driving Exam Question 22 Oct 2010 (Forum)
I'll get to the motoring part of the question in a minute. Can anyone advise if you had a faulty fuse on an old Punto which was causing the window wipers to stay on would a driving examiner have the right to refuse to let you sit your test? Problem for me is that tomorrow morning I'm supposed to be sitting mine, in my Mum's old banger and today it has started acting up. -
Ford Fiesta (2000 - 2002) - 02 1.3 Radio annoyances 4 Sep 2009 (Forum)
When i connect the radio with what i have there, the two outside verticals and the antenna i get a backlight on my old radio and neither radio will switch on! So i have deduced that the sparky has lost one of my old adapters and I have had no luck finding one. Help would be greatly appreciated!!! -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Clutch and gearbox faults 12 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Whilst working away today busy building a Porch for a Mate I was approached by a neighbour. Nothing unusual there. Bit of small talk which soon got around to cars. I told him about my new small one and how it now suited me and he told me about his long one which now doesn't go. Well he was quite old. However, the true tale is of his 24k 3.5 yr old TDCi Mondy. -
Audi/BMW 20 Jun 2008 (Forum)
An uncle who has just retired has surprised us all by announcing that he is looking at a BMW after almost 20 years of Audi ownership. He currently has a 3 year old A4 diesel and is stricken by a two year old 320d M Sport saloon with low mileage and leather seats. He is dithering because here and on other websites, there are conflicting comments on the BMW. Reports of rough rides and tyre noise with run flat tyres, door handles falling off and premature clutch failures. -
What fits What? 30 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Needed a new bearing for an old motorcycle that I am doing up. The nearest Yamaha dealer is around 30 miles away so thought I would try a small independent motorcycle garage just down the road. The old guy who runs the place had a look at my damaged bearing and made a note of some numbers from it. -
Another MG ZR post (Dealer and Price) 9 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Can anyone give me a contact number at Rover to try to have a rational discussion with somebody in Sales? P S I am also eligible for MG car club Preferred Customer Discount - but nobody knows if that is "as well as" or "instead of". P P S Does anyone know where I can get a ZR 105 one year old at a sensible price bearing in mind the alleged high rate of depreciation...? -
Cold start problems on Laguna 2-litre 1 Apr 2003 (Forum)
It has been in the local Renault dealer for 4 weeks, and they have been singularly incapable of finding any faults. They have replaced the cat with no improvement, so put the old one back on. Ditto ECU. Ditto idle control unit. The diagnostic equipment fails to show any faults. The plugs are 4000 miles old. The cold start sensor is apparently OK. The car has done 84000 miles & has been regularly serviced since new. -
BMW service indicator 5 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I'll be getting my recently acquired 525 TD serviced within the next few weeks. As it's now 7 years old - one of the last of the old shape models - I don't feel the need for official dealer servicing, and reckon that dated receipts showing all work done/parts replaced etc should be enough for any future buyer now that the car is about to pass 100k.
