  My Volkswagen Golf, 2003 automatic model has problems changing from 3rd to 4th gear. For the first 5 minutes of the journey gear changing is fine,changing into 4th with no problems. But after around 5 minutes of driving the car will go from 3rd to 4th and straight back down to 3rd.

  No recall has been announced in Europe as yet, but concerned Passat and Tiguan owners should contact Volkswagen Customer Services or their local dealer for more information. I can well imagine VW UK holding out for as long as they can until they find it necessary to do the right thing for it's customers.
