(99-06) 2.0 petrol - auto slips in top gear ? - cliff06
i have a bora sport 2lt, only had it 4 weeks, gearbox is playing up, it slips in top gear at normal temp ?

Not all modern autoboxes have a torque converter lock-up clutch - if it doesn't have one then the torque converter will slip continuously, just like old-fashioned autoboxes.

hi, it has got a torque converter, top gear slips away and the engine screams like mad.

Falkirk Bairn is on the money there - is the fluid dark ie burnt/overheated and BTW has the car got a towing hitch? If it has there are good odds that the box has suffered from some ill considered towing activity!
