Agreed, it's far more likely to be a seized linkage on a VW Sharan of this age. If you Join www.fordgalaxy.org.uk and look in the FAQs there is a Photo strip down of of a seized wiper assembly.

i thought the black plastic box connected to the motor was some sort of relay but any how it doesnt smell although looks like there has been some damp on the bottom of the board. I will check the earth brown wire and check that it has a good earth and feed from the black grey and get back to you. Many thanks Rich

The plastic box probably does contain embedded relays; AFAIK it isn't available separately from the motor - but Shalraxys are odd in that some of their "manufacturers" will supply sub-assemblies that others don't.

just tried the wires for feed and they are all good. I phonned vw today to try and get the electric box that goes on the motor but they dont do it on iits own. Looks like a new motor is required. Cheers for your help. Rich
