Recommendations for BIG but economical estate pls. 7 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Hi all. Currently have a 58-reg 2.2 Tdci S-Max. I can't afford the finance (or fuel, to be honest) on it any more due to job circumstances so I'm selling it, paying off the finances and getting something cheaper to run for a while. I work from home so do very few miles at present. -

? - What family car 18 May 2016 (Forum)
We are looking for something bigger and are torn between an suv and an estate and are looking to spend around 9-10k as we will have negative equity from the pug going on to any finance. Ideally we are looking for something that will give us at least 40 mpg and have a bit of ground ( i do a lot of hillwalking and drive on forest roads) clearance as well as a decent boot and plenty of leg room, also one that has a goid reliability and safety rating. -
Subaru Legacy - Vehicle Road Tax Refund. 24 Dec 2014 (Forum)
We filled in the necessary paperwork and today I have received a one month rebate only, instead of the expected two ,obviously due to the salesman having no interest in me and my finances, so he has cost me £23.33 because of this new car tax system.(If he has been using up any fuel left in the car this of course is now illegal). Under the old system it was in my interest the post the tax disc promply so that the DVLA received the paperwork to allow the two months refund, yet another kick in the teeth for the motorist. -

None - Wonga , pay day loans 19 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Given that most of the borrowers are credit impaired ,isn't the charge reasonable ?. Consider also most of the borrowers cannot access finance through conventional lenders ,this is their only option . Finally it appears that these lenders make a large part of their profits by levying fees on borrowers who don't repay on time .So to often the borrowers don't even repay the small cash amounts they borrow . -

The would you swap game 2 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I tend to find round Surrey way i'd swap for about 40% of cars in car park. I think thats pretty good, and that my car suits my needs. Finances allowing is this a good model to tell you when to actually get a new car. -
Car loan rejection after sale 31 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Dear Forum members, I bought a car last month with finance arranged from dealer. Everything was smooth, but after three weeks the dealer came back saying the loan is rejected by the bank. As per his explanation the bank approved the loan initially based on which he sold the car. -
Alfa Romeo GT, 2004, 1.9 jtd - water pump failure, shredded cam belt 15 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Cam belt changed at 46,000 miles on purchase of car. 5 months later and 4000 miles, water pump seized and shredded the cam belt causing £2000 of damage. claim against finance company was not up held as independent engineer reported that I should of heard a noise prior to the water pump seizing. Also the bearings would be put down to fair wear and tear. never heard any noise, I have heard that they can seize suddenly. -
VW Transporter - Buying advice (again) 5 May 2010 (Forum)
Now I must be mad to be considering the private option, but it is the right money and colour, but I beleive there is finance o/s, so how would I go about making sure I do a safe deal and not left hung out to dry so to speak, (apart from buying from the dealer)? -
Citroen berlingo van 1.9 diesel - blue smoke rev counter problem 21 Mar 2010 (Forum)
They were polite yesterday but with a potential bill this big I'll be talking to customer services as this is just out of warranty & has a full VW service history. I have had 5 Golfs and this has been the worst , am certainly not buying another one. As the finance deal is ending I'm counting the days to handing it back- VW get a grip or you'll be losing your hard earned reputation for reliability & build quality! If anyone can advise me further please do. -
Servicing a low mileage vehicle - necessary? 27 Oct 2009 (Forum)
It's also booked in for its annual service, but because we've had to pay out for a number of things recently SWMBO, who handles the household finances, objected to this. The car doesn't do many miles - I think it's averaged out at ~5k per year since we bought it, currently <60k - so her reasoning was that it should be ok to miss the service out. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - v5 query 18 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The listed owner of the car on the V5 is a company (I think it was Norwich Union or Cornhill Insurance or someone like that) rather than an individual. What does this mean? Does this mean it might be owned by a finance company and hence might have outstanding debts still owing on it? 2. I checked online and the car is listed as having only one previous owner. The trader told me he had bought it about a month ago but would this not mean that the car has had two owners? -
Is the car market dead? 28 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I was googling for car sales and came across a few articles saying that the sales of new and used cars has basically ground to a halt. Probably why so many firms are now offering 0% finance on new cars. I also gather that sales of 4x4s, MPVs and large saloons have ground to a halt with dealers now refusing to take them in part-ex out of fear of being unable to sell them on - does this mean we are all going to be driving around in tiny cars in the next few years as everyone ditches their big cars? -
Help! about to view used car - best HPI type check 18 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I've no reason to think this - but I need to be sure with an HPI type check. What are the best one's? , are any cheaper than HPI? Do they all guarantee to pick up all o/s finance? The amounts are relatively small, the car is advertised for £995 (1.0 GX Micra / 64K P reg) so i'm guessing she paid the thick end of £2K last Nov, possibly in cash, but then again.... any thoughts The car is present for my son.
