Ford Focus III (2008 - ) - Focus 1.6 TDCi or 1.8 TDCi 27 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Greys and blues seem to show those supermarket scratches. Ford Direct seem to have mostly Titanium 1.8 TDCi's and 2.0 petrols, few 1.6 diesels or petrols. I quite like the thought of the diesel due to much better fuel economy and cheaper tax. Any thoughts, experience or advice welcome. Except my local plod use them and.............. -

Focus 1.9 TDCi knock 23 May 2007 (Forum)
She tends to only do short journeys so I suspect that this is due to carbon build-up. I'm tempted to try an additive such as STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner for Diesel Engines and give the car a good long motorway drive. STP (and other similar) claim that their products are suitable for common rail diesels and cats. Grateful for any comments, suggestions, experiences, etc. -
Audi A4 supplimentary heater 29 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Can anyone help me with the following question ? I have a 2004 A4 Turbo Diesel. In the instructions manual it talks of an auxiliary heater which is an option and burns fuel to provide heat at low temperatures before the engine is warm. The manual also stated that ALL turbo diesel models have a 'supplimentary heater' which provides warmth independant of the engine temp, when the coolant temp is below a certain level. -

OK - it's time to ask the experts!!! 23 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I own a VW Passat 1.9 TDI (2000 W) and use REDEX all the time, and my brother-in-law has a mondeo TD and he has just started using, with no ill-effects as yet a product from a company called GREASED LIGHTNING he has given me a leaflet showing the "Fuel system treatment" suitable for petrol and diesel cars??? - this worries me a little, wouldn't it be better if something was specially for a diesel engine? Also instant engine treatment which claims to quieten it down ?? -

Ford Fiesta MK6 Zetec S 1.6 TDCI - MK6 1.6 TDCI Zetec S Diesel Leak 13 May 2020 (Forum)
Hi, I have a very bad diesel leak from 1.6 zetec s, I've changed injector seals etc but it's definetely not leaking from there. I had my friend who's a mechanic look, and he got a picture of where he thinks it's coming from, somewhere around the fuel pump. -
MK1 Focus 2.0 Petrol versus MK5 Golf 2.0 diesel 6 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I am worried about high repair costs for diesels, but the other benefits are tempting. I will be looking for a fully serviced car for 4.5-5k hopefully. Is the Golf a good choice, or are there better cars for the money? -
Volvo S80 (1998 - 2006) - 05 D5 diesel cutting out... 7 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Very unnerving!!. About 200 miles after a new fuel relay was put in by the Volvo main agent the problem occurred again 20 times in 100 miles, no trouble today although it blinked twice yesterday. No link to engine temperature, no sluggish forewarning just a shut down for a fraction of a second. -
Mini Clubman 57 Diesel - Mini Clubman not starting intermittent 1 Oct 2015 (Forum)
I have a Mini Clubman '57 plate, 1.6 diesel engine with FSH with Mini, recently the car refuses to start, but this is intermittant. The car has been in the Mini garage for 2 weeks now and they can't get to the bottom of it. They thought it was water in the fuel, but this has been sorted, a full service carried out and the car still refuses to start, just turns over, but never quite kicks in. -
Toyota Avensis 2.2 TD - Avensis Diesel Rough Running Problem 20 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I’ve got a 2006 2.2 TD Avensis. On Wednesday I filled up with diesel from Tesco in Amersham. A few miles later it started to miss under load. It felt just like fuel starvation or, thinking back to the days on manual chokes, leaving the choke pulled out when the engine was hot. -
Seat Leon 1.9TDI FR - Seat Leon 1.9TDI FR 17 Oct 2011 (Forum)
My 'new' car is a Mk 1 (2004 model) Seat Leon 1.9 TDI FR 150hp, 1 owner, 52k miles and FSH. I decided to buy an older diesel to avoid problems with DPFs and the later piezo injectors fitted to VAG diesels. The 1.9TDI also seems to be a fairly fuel-efficient diesel. Does anyone on here know what problems are likely with this engine/model, any preventative maintenance to prevent problems, etc as I'm conscious the car is 7 years old already and I've never bought a car this old before? -
Skoda Octavia - 1.9PD injectors 2 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I've been thinking of buying an approx two year old 1.9PD Octavia and have read about injector issues on recent VAG diesel engines. There's been some debate on HJ and other forums about whether Siemens or Bosch injectors are fitted to recent 1.9PD units. So, I contacted Skoda customer service, gave them the registration plate of an 09 example from a local dealer and asked who made its fuel injectors. -
Will this damage my tyre? 6 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I had to fill up at my local station this evening before a long journey tomorrow, at the pump both of the petrol fillers were shut, not a problem as I was after diesel. I started to fill up but found that the pump was running very very slowly, I seemed to be standing at the pump for ages when suddenly fuel started pouring out from the car's filler pipe, I stopped filling immediately but diesel spilled out all down the bodywork and covered my rear tyre/alloy.
