  Since than it has done a lot less miles and is now on 85K. I know that the hand book is 60K changes but have read that Audi / VAG were now talking about changes every 4 years regardless of mileage. Based on this it is due one in Dec. Can anyone shed some light . Thanks Jason

  Afternoon all. I am considering changing my car from a small renault Clio Diesel to an Audi A4 Avant. No I have not got Kids yet but just need a bigger car. I am looking for the new style but want to know forum members views on semi high mileage diesels, either the 1.9 or 2.5. Are there any major problems with mileage over 85,000 that members know of.

  Reading this am's Sunday T***s - a German prosecutor has described the payment of bribes to people within the VW / Audi purchasing group as normal ! The investigation suggest that this is spreading to BMW and also PSA. VW chairman is suggesting this practice is inflating the cost of supply contracts and damaging the firm financially. ------------------------------------------------------- I think I have a solution for him - market the car as desirable with good image (see recent thread from akr) and inflate the price to cover the costs !!!!!!!!

  In traffic yesterday and was overtaken by an unmarked Audi A3 Sporthatch, brand new. Inside were two young men casually dressed but with sharp haircuts. The car was flashing blues and making siren noises, but it is clear that if the car was parked up at the kerb you would never have spotted the lights.

  I paid to get a valuation of my car to use during negotiations with an Audi dealer. The trade in price was £5800. I told him that's what I wanted. He went away doing the 'talk to my manager' thing and came back offering me £4800. He said the book he has contains the real prices and that Glass's online valuations aren't right!

• Two Bikes One Car 8 Feb 2005 (Forum)
  I am looking at replacing my wifes old Fiesta and thought that we could find a car that could handle our two bikes standing up inside. When carrying the bikes we would not need the back seats so something like an Audi A2 possibly. What else would have the height without going to an MPV? The car will be used during the week commuting into London so economical and easy to park would be helpful.

  However, price (20k) is in the small exec bracket and depreciation is likely to be faster than BMW/Audi. Plan to test drive the A4 1.9TDi soon as well as the BMW 320dES. What do others think of these cars?

  My 1998 Audi A6 2.5 TDi has over 150,000 miles and is getting to the point where I think I've had my money's worth from the original glow plugs. I have been quoted over £200 by a (non-franchise) garage to change all 6 glow plugs.

  A friend who lives in a remote area of West Scotland, has bought an Audi TT with the 225bhp motor that requires 98 ron fuel. The problem is that his nearest garage selling super unleaded is 100 miles round trip away. Is there any additive product on the market that would boost normal 95 Ron to super unleaded ???

  Anyone considered getting their car's ECU re-mapped by places such as 'super chips' to give better performance/fuel economy etc? Are the benefits really as good as the companies would have us believe? For my 2.4 Audi I can expect a boost of 12bhp for approx £300 - quite keen but any feedback from people who have had this done would be much appreciated. Any info regarding possibility of higher insurance premiums also of interest.

  I have ankylosing spondolitis - a degenerative back problem - and I find lots of cars really bad to drive, some after as little as 20 mins. I find BMWs particularly bad, some Audis are OK but not the ones with "sports" seats, Volvos were fine up to the old 850 but since then I find them agony.

  Why are most cars front wheel drive whereas cars like BMW/MERCS (which keep getting top marks from all motoring journalists esp likes of 5 series BMW)rear wheel drive.And how do the likes of Audi quattro compare to the these rear wheel drives.Your thoughts on the subject will be very much appreciated. yours sincerely ravi

  On the advice of many people, I am now using Shell Optimax in my Saab 9000 Aero, which seems to work pretty well. However my father has just bought his first ever new car, an Audi A4 Tdi, and is unsure of which is the best diesel to use. Is there any differenc between the diesel at Safeways where he would normally fill up, or that from the nearby Texaco, BP etc. stations? Thanks in advance for any advice Gavin

  A small power drop is promised with ordinary unleaded, do's any one know what the actual power and torque losses are. I've enquired at the dealer and Audi customer relations but have got no sensible answers. I'm happy with the power i have but wonder weather the extra pull may be useful when towing the caravan.

  The sills were bolt on but steel, and were easy to relace when they rotted. Just about the only other parts rot by the time the car was alomost 20 were the door bottoms. Audi now make aluminium bodied cars. How come Rover were such innovators then? Why were more cars not made from aluminum? Volvo tailgates are aluminiun on their 940 estates -why is that? Alex

  Just nipped home for lunch in my Audi Coupe. Slowed down to turn into my drive, and... what's that whining noise? The previously silent fuel pump now sounds like someone has left a cordless power drill running in the boot. Any suggestions?

  I've noticed that many models eg Audi, Mercedes, VW, in Belgium and Germany have smaller nearside door mirrors than on driver's side - in the UK the mirrors are the same size. Anybody know the reason for the difference? (I had suspected that it was due to some local law, and that to produce the differing sizes the other way round for rhd would be an unnecessary expense, but a new Polo Estate UK courtesy car I borrowed the other week had unequal size mirrors (reversed for rhd) also...)!
• A4 Aircon leak 1 Oct 2001 (Forum)
  The gas keeps disappearing from my aircon system into thin air! I have an Audi A4 1996 with climate control. My local specialist has checked it 4 times (with fluoresecent dye etc) and cannot locate the source of the problem. Has anyone else had similar problems? Where can I go from here without incurring £££ ?
• Fuel Mixtures 10 May 2001 (Forum)
  I know where to change the mixture but which way do I turn it?! Is in more fuel/richer mix or is out? The car's an '88 Audi 80 1.8 carb. I think the model of the carb is a Kleihn II or something similar to that. I know it's a bit tight fisted but I resent paying somebody to turn a screw! Thanks in advance, Mark
