Vauxhall has signed its largest-ever car daily rental deal to supply rental giant ANC Rental Corporation, the operator of the National, Alamo and Guy Salmon brands in the UK. This does two important things for Vauxhall: It puts hirers into its cars on extended trials, so if they like them they may either buy similar Vauxhall cars or specify them as their next company cars. -

It was due to contest the 1962 Rand Grand Prix in Kyalami but did not qualify. Named after a zulu spear, the Assegai follows the lines of a Lotus 18 but with a distinctive sharknose slightly reminiscent of 1961 Ferrari F1 cars. It is powered by a 1.5 litre, 4-cylinder Alfa Romeo engine with five-speed gearbox. After occasional track appearances and changes of ownership, the car was purchased at classic car auction specialists, Historics at Brooklands, in August 2015 by former F1 team member and now Oxfordshire classic car collector and enthusiast, John Carpenter. -

A Peugeot 205 GTi with several desirable period extras has been unearthed after 20 years of storage. The car, which is fitted with a Dimma body kit and a Turbo Technics upgrade, has been entered into the classic car sale at Anglia Car Auctions on 13 June with no reserve. Sold by Sandal Motors when new, the first owner requested the Dimma body upgrades from collection. -

Best Used Car 2008 picked up by Skoda Octavia 11 Mar 2008 (News)
Skoda's Octavia hatchback model has been awarded the Best Used Car of the Year 2008 prize by a motoring body. Readers of AM voted for the car ahead of competitors from Mazda, BMW and Honda in order to clinch the gong. This has not surprised Skoda head of planning John French, who states that although the car initially went into production in 1996, it is "as popular now as it was when it was first launched".
