  • Citreon C3 Aircross - Advice on order of process 11 Jan 2025 (Forum)
Due to being hospitalised for three months almost 2 years ago and my recovery to "normality" has been long and slow, my car has been sat in my garage all that time and never moved and off the road for both tax and insurance,  Ironically I bought it brand new just a few weeks before everything went to pot,   My recovery to my new normal state has meant that although now that I am in a better state to drive, I am unable to use the brake with my right foot as I cannot lift high enough from the accelerator.  After a driving assessment a few weeks ago it was agreed that I could drive again with a push control in place of the brake.
  • Lamborghini factory tour 25 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Driving at minimum highway speeds of 75mph (in fact usually 133kmh as per the Sat Nav) and including some stop start driving,  with five people and luggage I have achieved over 52mpg over 700 miles.
  • Licence Revoked in 2006, I found out yesterday 21 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I spoke with the DVLA yesterday afternoon and this morning and was given the same information – My licence was revoked at the end of 2006 and I had been permitted to drive until the end of 2007. I have subsequently been driving since with, allegedly, no valid driving licence.   The DVLA said my licence was clear of any endorsements and could not tell me the reason why it was revoked ‘because four years had elapsed’ and they held no more information on the matter, suffice to say they presume it was because I failed to send in my licence at some point in 2006 for an endorsement, a fact I deny totally.
  • Faltering Nissan Cherry 4 Feb 2004 (Forum)
t seem to rev smoothly. I?ve only had the car for a couple of weeks and to be honest I?m scared to drive it in case it cuts out and won?t restart. Also what petrol should I be using in it? I was told by the colleague of my Dad who bought it for his girlfriend to learn to drive in and she drove it a few times then decided she didn?
  • Are speed ramps killing my fuel economy? 13 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I'll then drive along this dual carraigeway for 5 miles, before pulling off and driving for another mile through very light (I rarely have to stop bar a single set of lights) urban traffic. I repeat this in the evening, and will often pop down the mile long lane in the evening to the shop etc, and back up.
  • 3500 kg limit 28 Jul 2025 (Forum)
I used to think that in normal category B license one can drive vehicles up to 3500 kg. However, if the vehicle is EV, then weight limit goes up to 4250 kg! https://www.gov.uk/driving-licence-categories Some motorhomes are heavier than 3500 kg which currently requires C1 license (from 3500 to 7500 kg limit).

  • Is chip fat diesel making a comeback? 11 Nov 2021 (Forum)
Some years ago the use of diesel made from reclaimed chip-fryer fat became quite popular for a time but then seemed to fade into relative obscurity. However, in the last few weeks I've smelt that characteristic pong several times, while out driving (and no, I wasn't driving past a fish & chip shop at the time!). Has the recent rise in price of diesel made from crude oil triggered a revival of this more pungent alternative?
  • Toyota Yaris - Google and Licence Varification 17 Sep 2021 (Forum)
This is or isnt a driving legal matter and I am not sure whether other members have this situation. Google sent me an email to say that to confirm my address I should send a copy of my passport or a copy of driving licence.

  • Mid size manual - max 4k miles per year 14 May 2021 (Forum)
Hi Looking for a mid size manual for my Mum.  She does mainly local driving - up to 4k a year - with the occasional motorway drive once a month.  I was looking at the Jazz but got put off by the high rate of catalytic converter thefts (especially in my area). What would you recommended?
  • Speeding on private road 1 Oct 2020 (Forum)
He was actually stopped by a plod with a laser gun. He’s going to contest it but is concerned that they can change it to dangerous driving or driving without due care and attention. Is there a time limit on how long he can dispute the ticket and it be over time for any other charge? Thanks
  • Ride on Lawn Mowers 9 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Okay if it's just to move around an obstruction on the roadside to gain access to more grass, but is it allowed to drive about over a longer distance. I always thought they had to be transported on a trailer.

  • Comfortable Seating 19 Feb 2018 (Forum)
I had a back operation last year and still suffer from lower back pain and pains in the backs of the thighs when sitting. I currently drive a C-Max automatic which is OK-ish but am keen to buy something with very comfortable, ideally electric, seats. I am not too concerned with consumption as I drive relatively low miles, nor really with size.
  • Journey from Sunderland to Rothes 10 Feb 2018 (Forum)
Help! I will be driving from Sunderland to Rothes - my husband usually does the driving but is unable to do so this year. Our normal route is A19, Ai, a90,A9 then A95. Feel okay about most of journey but it is the junctions slip roads etc around Edinburgh and getting to Queensferry Bridge and roads around Perth which make me a bit nervous.
  • Hyundai Ioniq? - Next Car 10 Dec 2017 (Forum)
Not to sure if I want to go down the diesel route next time, and have been looking at the ioniq. I drive a fair few miles, lots of motorway, and although HJ writes a comprehensive review of this car I would be interested to learn of any owners experiences too. I will be arranging a test drive. Thanks in advance.

  • Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 02-09-2017 Part 1 7 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Im amazed someone can buy a brand new car but not 'see' the windscreen built in heating element and seats that do not meet their needs. Do these people make do with a 10 minute test drive? Before buying any new car Ive always insisted on upto half a day's test drive and if the dealer doesnt agree, I go elsewhere.
