• vw v6 running on 4 10 Sep 2006 (Forum)
  back of engine got a soaking (2 weeks ago) when i removed scuttle drain to bypass matrix. car is now running on 4 cyclinders, 1 & 5 are not firing although they are sparking. i have replaced plugs and leads and leads are fitted correctly. the only thing i can think of is that the injectors electrical connection has been damaged - but don't know where to start.

  I don't have a manual - can someone please tell me what the dash warning light second from the right is? Sometimes this comes on, usually when stopped at traffic lights. Then the car runs with very low power, hardly pulling away. Stopping the car and restarting it 'fixes' the problem, for a while. Any ideas? Cheers, Simon

  Hi I have had a nightmare with a 1999 VW Golf. The car was running rich and failed MOT with high enissions. It is vibrating on idle and gives of an extremely pungent fuel smell on idle. My mechanic replaced the lambda probe, cat converter, cleaned out throttle body and replaced engine manifold to no avail (and £900 later).

  Someone I know is thinking of buying a Kia Magentis (after long-running and harrowing problems with a Jag X-type). He's had a short drive in one and thinks there OK. I note that they seem to be well regarded in the US (sold as a Kia Optima) - anyone have any experience of them over the longer term.

  seat arosa, 04 plate, 8000 miles, 1400cc 12 valve. faults : the manifold glows BRIGHT red after a short run. there is a funny low down knock on pickup it sometimes runs on 3 cylinders on the over-run the EPC(what does that stand for) sometimes comes on when i left foot brake :-) it looses all power !!!!

  Hi. has anyone come across this one. My 97 1.8 16v has started running on intermittently. Doesn't seem related to long/short journeys. Local dealer has diagnosed that it is running rich and that ECU is faulty (other sensors check out OK) so had it changed. Of course there is no difference.

  I managed to find some reasonably priced daylight running bulbs from https://xenons4u.co.uk/ which are fantastic. I found the lights were not available in the high street and not many stockists online either so hope that will be helpful for others. I had an issue in the Peugeot manual that came with the car.
