  • A Grand Monday: Austin Montego 1.6L Estate 4 Dec 2017 (News)
Being a 1.6-litre, it's full on suburban spec - exactly the kind of car your mate from school's dad would have had, complete with optional radio-cassette player to keep up with the Joneses.  It's a seven-seater, too, meaning it's the perfect usable classic for those with large families, or mothers-in-law that they prefer to install in the car backwards.  Being a Channel Island car, this one's a genuine low-miler, although an island life suggests to us that, even with just 30,000 miles on the clock, it would be prudent to give it a thorough once-over for underbody corrosion, not least because the owner even admits that the bodywork will 'need attention' - it looks okay in the pictures, but we'd ask for several close-ups before jumping on a ferry to Guernsey.

  • Edd China puts wacky racers on show at Beaulieu 25 Jul 2017 (News)
Just for the day, this exhibit was joined by his road-legal sofa, Casual Loafer. Edd’s passenger for the demonstrations was Wave 105 radio presenter Rick Jackson, who commentated as they careered around the special course. With Edd taking his place on the toilet seat of Bog Standard and gripping the sink handlebars, Rick reclined in the bathtub - the pair clocking speeds of up to 34mph as they motored along.
  • Grand Monday: Low-mileage Rover 820 £450 14 Sep 2015 (News)
That list includes electric windows front and rear, electric sunroof, electric heated mirrors, radio/cassette player, and electric aerial. Even better, they all work. So why is it up for sale? Well, according to the vendor, ‘I am selling it only because an 820 Coupe has just come up, which I could not resist.
  • Elvis Presley's Cadillac Seville goes on display at Beaulieu National Motor Museum 16 Dec 2014 (News)
Bought by the so-called ‘king of rock ‘n’ roll’ in October 1976, the burgundy and silver car is in original condition and still has the CB radio installed that Elvis used to communicate to his staff at his home in Graceland at Memphis, Tennessee. Made by General Motors, the body was custom built by Fisher for Cadillac.
  • A Grand Monday: Austin Allegro 2 Jun 2014 (News)
Described as being ‘in complete original condition’, the Austin still has its original radio and tool kit in the boot. What’s more, it appears to have had some recent recommisioning work, with a full service and new 12 month MoT. On the face of it, we think this car would be a perfect starter classic for someone wanting a daily runner and values will (one day) increase as numbers fall even further.  Austin Allegro in the classifieds Austin Allegro: How many survived

  • A Grand Monday: Morris Marina 1.3 11 Mar 2019 (News)
Its mechanical simplicity and its spacious interior were strong sales points, regardless of its rather weird ergonomics - to this day, it remains the only car ever made to have the radio facing the passenger and not the driver, for example.  Today, the Marina is a bit of a cult car, helped in no small part by the British love of the underdog.
