  he manully primed the fuel line and sure enough some diesel came through. He then put some more diesel in the tank and used some carb start on the air intake and got it started. This has now happened on 5 or 6 occasions all with the fuel gauge showing different levels(but all under 1/4 of a tank) i have had it towed directly to ford(where i bought it from) a couple of times and a couple of weeks ago they replaced the fuel pump, its had a service so all the filters have been changed.

  swmbo's 2002 xtrail diesel with 60k Nissan FSH, has intermittent fault of losing power, cutting out and jerky engine. AA said fuel pump. Brought to specialist who managed to experience issue, but it went away after they changed fuel filter and an earth lead.

  I noticed that My Clio appeared to have greater turbo lag than usual and seemed slightly down on power around 200rpm on a recent 3000 mile trip around France. I also noticed an increase in diesel knock. Could this be due to the proportion of bio diesel they now put in all French diesel? I usedwhat seened to be the premium fuels hoping to take advantage of the fact that this engine ( according to my main dealer ) has an anti knock sensor and should be able to benefit from an increase in cetane number.

  i have a renault megane 2002 diesel 1.9dci i recently added redex diesel fuel additive to a full tank of diesel two days later my service light came on with the message check injectors , is that a coincidence or is it down to the additive and why did the message come up , i took it to the garage who reset the computer and told me to come back if the message comes on again i didnt tell them i put redex in just in case it invalidated the warranty {year and engine details added to subject header, as per the 3 separate requests that you overlooked!}

  However this morning it would not start (there was a clicking noise when I tried), but no starter motor. I got 8l of diesel and poured it in the tank and operated the bleeding button on the top of the fuel pump (for quite a while). Initially when I tried to start again the clicking was gone but the engine still didn't turn over.

  Not so much of a leak but I am struggling having replaced a lift pump which sits under the car below the fuel tank.  When I removed the existing pump and disconnect the fuel line into the pump, it was dry, no diesel came gushing out, which was good (given I have a full tank of fuel).  Having installed the new pump I noticed a leak when I started up the car.

  This post is about ageing fuel in car fuel tanks. Petrol and diesel. (I touched on this a while back) I was just reflecting on it. Arrived home from France early July, the remaining diesel from Calais then lasted a few weeks. Refueled and weeks later still have a 2/3 tank of derv left.

I have been talking...unscrewing my fuel tank cap...started to refuel and....after a few seconds I realised I have ben puting PETROL IN MY CLIO DIESEL! I was annoyed ! Damn! how could I have ever been so stupid! Damn phone! I got so distracted that I have put wrong kind of fuel in my car!
