  • Small luxury cars? 11 Jan 2008 (Forum)
If Subaru produced a smaller, more space efficient Forester with better interior. If BMW produced a more space efficient 1-series. If the MINI had four doors, a better ride and better engines. If Lexus simply produced a 'mini' IS250. Considering the number of retired people coming out of large executive saloons, I would have thought that a manufacturer could clean up a car with the attributes noted above.
  • Big problem on the roads this morning 18 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I went through this and another quarter mile up the road there was a two car shunt. Another 300 yards and a new Mini was into a tree! Coming past the two car shunt and passing the Mini, a guy in a Picasso was two inches off the rear of my car and then overtook me in an industrial estate/30mph On the way back home around an hour later, we were u-turned on the dual carraigeway with the multi car pile up, to enable them to clear up the carnage.
  • Everyman Racing at Prestwold Hall, Leics 29 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I spent a wonderful morning yesterday out at Prestwold Hall, just outside Loughborough, Leics, taking part in a Mini Racing event (which was given to me as a 30th birthday present by my wonderful other half) and had an absolutely fantastic time. Over the four hours or so I got to drive a coach, run a fun Autotest in a Mini Cooper, be taken out for a few laps of the circuit by an instructor and then put down a few laps myself, take a gorgeous E-Type (still bearing Jack Brabham's name) out for a few more laps, and then be a passenger alongside one of their pro drivers in a Cooper S for a couple of extremely high speed (and slightly mental) laps.
  • North Coast 500 4 Jan 2024 (Forum)
At this time of year thoughts turn to summer holidays, and one idea my wife and I have for a few weeks away in the summer, probably early September, is driving the North Coast 500 in our Mini convertible. We’ve seen a few packages offered by various firms, which seem reasonable value, but does anyone have any experience or ideas about the best way to do this trip?
  • Most remembered car tv advert 11 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Probably been covered but here goes What car tv advert do you remember most? Is it the Mini Metros being driven off the boats at the South coast? The Fiat Strada being built by robots? Volvos being driven through windows by crash test dummies or the Citreon BX being eaten by a mechanical Grace Jones?
  • Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 24-12-2016 Part 1 31 Dec 2016 (Forum)
My employers have a Ford mini-bus I drive occasionally. The mileometer failed several years ago, and only the trip mileage is displayed. However, it always gets through the MOT without comment from the testing garage, no mileage being entered on the certificate.

  • Impress our car uninterested Son - How do Audi do it? 5 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Cos Skoda failed, Mini failed, despite the nightclub effect showroom, Volvo then failed, Suziki also failed. But boy o boy when he sat in the wee A1 Audi .........................he was genuninely smitten. But I did not see anything particularly different about it, though this was perhaps bearing in mind the price premium.
