  • 46% of new car buyers want to buy online 8 Jun 2015 (News)
This suggests that people using the internet to buy cars can treat the online marketplace as a simple, easy way to compare the best prices without having to negotiate directly, and that test drives are not a priority. Mark Peatey, Director at Finance A car , a UK website that provides an end to end solution for new car buyers, stated that, “Whilst online car buying is common in other countries such as France, until recently it has not been easy in the UK.
  • Latest News From Barrett Jackson's 15th January Marathon Auction 16 Jan 2015 (News)
The most prized cars are the muscle cars from the years when ‘baby boomers’ first got their driving permits. Rather too many unique ‘special edition’s, maybe. But the big turn-ons are ‘super muscle cars’, a term coined by Barry White of Corona, California for the muscle motors of the 1960s and 70s brought up to date with the latest tech that can include air suspension, rack and pinion steering, 6-speed manual and autoboxes and remanufactured ‘crate engines’, some of them offering 600HP plus.
  • London Classic Car Show honours Adrian Newey 13 Dec 2014 (News)
Among the cars that meant so much to him when he was growing up were his father’s Riley RMF – ‘a beautiful thing’ – and a Mini Cooper S, which was the car he learned to drive in. Newey has his own collection of cars and will be bringing along his Jaguar SS100 that he bought ‘as a bag of bits’ and restored. There’ll also be the Ford GT40 that you may have seen him racing at Goodwood Revival.
  • Who fancies a ‘brand new’ Sunbeam Lotus? 24 Oct 2014 (News)
The UK list price of the Sunbeam Lotus in 1980 was £7205, making it considerably dearer than the £4995 Ford Escort RS2000 and £5577 Vauxhall Chevette 2300HS. This left-hand drive ‘time warp’ Sunbeam was discovered by its current owner as part of a large private collection in Italy. It remains all-original throughout, including its Embassy Black paint finish with silver decals.

  • Bugatti Type 35 to star in Bournemouth 9 May 2014 (News)
As well as the Type 35 Bugatti, the National Motor Museum will also bring two additional pre-war cars to the Festival, which can be seen in a marquee on the seafront close to Boscombe Beach (Undercliff Drive) during the three day event. These are the 1935 Auburn 851 and 1939 Rolls-Royce Alpine Eagle, a sporting version of the Silver Ghost, which was named because the Rolls-Royce team swept the board in the 1913 Austrian Alpine Trials.
  • A Grand Monday: Montego 2.0 GSi 3 Mar 2014 (News)
.   But that doesn't mean it was a bad car. Far from it. A good Montego was a good car to drive, with strong, torquey engines, nice ride and handling, and plenty of interior room. All it really lacked was that showroom wow factor that marked its two best selling rivals. In classic terms, though, the Montego scores pretty well - it has a strong following, and plenty of 'my dad had one of those' appeal... which as we all know, is vitally important.
  • A Grand Monday: Fiat Uno 60S 24 Feb 2014 (News)
If you're looking for an Uno, the only verson that people seem to be chasing and paying real money for is the Turbo - if you want a cooking one, you can still find a good one, and not pay a fortune for it. Here's a great example, and one that I'd be tempted to put on my own drive, had I not got too many French projects on the go already. It's a  1988 60 Super five-door with a mere 31,000 miles on the clock, and is described by its seller as being in ' as new' condition, helped in no part by being dry-stored since 1998.

  • Product Claims to Keep Diesel Particulate Filters Clear 19 Dec 2013 (News)
DPFs have a self-cleansing process built into the software of the car, so after a long journey, or on a motorway drive, they are meant to regenerate and re-cleanse. However, if the car spends a lot of time performing short journeys, the DPFs can become clogged because the regeneration process does not have time to initiate.
  • Diesel Particulate Filters to be Tested in MoT from February 6 Dec 2013 (News)
Some firms offer services to remove the filter, claiming it will boost consumption. But it is an offence to drive a vehicle that has been modified this way, as it will no longer meet the emissions standards the car achieved when it was approved for sale in the UK. Roads Minister Robert Goodwill said: "I am very concerned that vehicles are being modified in a way that is clearly detrimental to people's health and undoes the hard work car manufacturers have taken to improve emissions standards.
  • Mallory Park goes into administration 1 Oct 2013 (News)
Although it is early days, I am hopeful that, once a solution to the lease is found, all of the company’s creditors should receive a substantial dividend, which I understand is very much the driving force behind the continued support of the BARC.'

  • Report: Peking to Paris, day three 30 May 2013 (News)
Lots of cars have been in real difficulties today. Car 1, the big La France, had a chain come off the chain-drive La France, and was the first car to go down.  Most have suffered suspension troubles. There is a great atmosphere in the camp site tonight, but the Sweeper Mechanics look like burning another drum of midnight oil to get everyone fit for more of this tomorrow…

Enthusiasts can drive there in any shape or size of classic vehicle and park up for a day of concours, aeronautic displays and autojumble; or simply bring a picnic and enjoy the scenery. You don’t have to belong to a club to come along, but many owners’ clubs are already booking display areas for their members, including those representing Pontiac, Triumph Stag, Sunbeam Alpine and Alvis owners – all of which is a bit of a change from our usual fare of Ferraris, Maseratis and Lamborghinis!
