  • Rover 200 (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.4 timing marks 3 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi ive just changed my waterpump on my Rover 214si N reg and as far as im aware ive lined all the timing marks up correctly ie:exhauste pully pointing towards inlet pully and locked them in place with locking tool, ive also lined flywheel pully up with the oil pump marking which is about 1 ocklock as you look at the engine in the standing position there are also some other marks on the plastic cover and one of them says TDC my question is to i use the TDC marks to time up my car to run smoothly or is it the oil pump mark i should use to time my car up beacause ive used the oil pump mark and lined both my cams up properly and my car runs erratically ?.
  • Porsche Boxster 986 + Boxster S (1996 - 2004) - 02 2.7 Tiptronic Main Oil Seal 24 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Porsche agreed to cover 100% of the part cost and 90% of the labour cost, which I though was generous and was accepted. The car has always been serviced by Porsche main dealer and the last service, April 2009 they reported that the same seal is just started to sweat again.
  • Main dealer used car prices 11 Dec 2005 (Forum)
The car had covered around 8K and was in pristine condition, so I thought I would have a look on Autotrader and the Citroen UK site, to see how the price compared with listings on these two sites. I am constantly amazed at the prices being asked for used C5s by Citroen main dealers.
  • Young Driver in non fault accident 20 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Someone who works with SWMBO, has recently passed his test, is about 19, has TPFT cover with no uninsured loss recovery, has been involved in a non - fault accident. A bus hit a car behind him, shunted that into him, then he was shunted into another car in front. His car is a write off.
  • Air Con 4 Aug 2003 (Forum)

  • Supermarket pickup 21 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I have got an insurance cover note winging it's way to me as I speak. I also know that on the day of collection I will have to go out and get the car taxed. Can anyone advise me on how the actual buying/transfer of ownership process goes and anything else I need to be aware of on the day.
  • Vauxhall Corsa D/MK4 (1.2 petrol SXi) - Limp/EML/Oil 7 May 2013 (Forum)
I checked my engine bay and I've been delightfully greeted with a snapped breather hose and a filthy engine bay (literally everything is covered in brown/black gunk - I also noticed the engine cover was wet with what I assume is oil, right near the area of the oil cap.) - I can only assume this is oil residue from a leak? Could this be part of the problem?
  • Citroen C3 - Intermittently going into limp mode 14 Sep 2024 (Forum)
It was running fine before we left it in for a service, so we left it back with the local garage to investigate in case there was something they did during the service but after having it for nearly a week, they have said the fault is being caused by the one of the valves being faulty and that it needs a new cam cover at over £600 including labour. Does this sound right? We were looking to sell this car so don't want to put any extra money into it unless we absolutely need to. Thanks
  • Tesla - Do EV batteries explode in a collision? 2 Aug 2023 (Forum)
In the footage, the Tesla (seems like a model Y but can't really tell) was hit from behind by another Tesla model 3 and a small fire is raging from the back of the car hit. After few minutes the fire get larger and popping sounds are heard, then all hell brake loose. Multiple explosions some are fairly big with white smoke and flames while everyone is running for cover.
  • Premium Location Fee 29 Sep 2022 (Forum)
I recently got caught out by a nice little earner run by one of the leading car hire firms. I knew in advance that the standard limited mileage might not be quite enough to cover my three days' hire, but it was likely to be roughly the same as paying the extra for a flat rate.
  • Nissan Note 1.4 petrol 2009 - oil change? 9 Oct 2020 (Forum)
It has done 47,240 miles. Due to the current and our previous personal circumstances the car has only covered just over 2,000 miles in the last 2 years.  At the last service the oil was just like new so I decided not to have it or the filter changed.  It now is a slightly murky brown but still transparent.
  • Fiesta 03 1.4 TDCI - Blue smoke and lots of it 11 Aug 2017 (Forum)
Ford fiesta 2003 1.4 TDCI 113k Serviced Oil/fuel/air filters replaced and fresh oil Still very good fuel consumption Slight Diesel smell inside when running Lot's of blue smoke after idling for a while then pulling away and accelerating 1st and 2nd, I guess the speed after is dispersing the smoke. It first smoked like this at Christmas after sitting in a ferry port with the car idling for an hour or so as the weather was freezing and was trying to keep warm with the heaters, I pretty much filled the car deck with smoke :( Rocker cover gasket needs replacing No loss of power Not using a weird amount of oil, 3/4 on the dipstick since service Turbo has just been replaced.
  • Road tax - steeling road tax back 3 Nov 2015 (Forum)
Regarding electronic tax. Have the govenrment covered this eventuality? So you sell a car, the tax only becomes defunct the minute dvla get the documents all good. What if you declare sorn on-line the night you sell the vehicle. You get a refund on tax paid as a checque in the post.
  • Landrover - The AA! refunds abysmal service Call centre a joke 27 Sep 2013 (Forum)
Our AA renewl was due 30th August but we cancelled as we had bought 3 new cars all with AA or RAC cover with the car. We discovered that a request for payment had been made before our policy was actually due ! I cancelled the renewl before the excisiting policy was due but payment was taken.

  • Ford Focus III - Diesel Pariculate Filter Problems 4 May 2010 (Forum)
Dear all, I've had a Ford Focus 1.6 tcdi 06 plate for just over a year.  I bought the car from a well know national car supermarket.  In January the engine management light came on and it turned out that the DPF needed repenishing.  As this was not covered in the entended warrenty I paid for, I had to bring it down to Ford and paid £100 for it.

The loom had never been secured to prevent this happening, and had no form of outer covering that could have prevented this.
  • Lanzarote Jottings 2 Feb 2010 (Forum)
The locals are suffering fom a shortage of tourists and have taken the strange step of raising prices to try and maintain their income! Car hire is excellent value; I had a 1.2 5 door Fiesta for Euros 108 for the week all included; petrol is 77 cents a litre and with a taxi from and to the airport @ 80 euros, a car for a week for 108 made good sense.
  • Jaguar XJS V12 (1975 - 1995) - Irrational XJS purchase. Mid-life crisis already? 2 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Being still under 40 I am wondering if I have already reached the 1/2 way point..... Browsing the Classic Car section of Ebay and saw a car I have liked for years and I instantly fell in love. 1991 Jaguar XJS 5.3 litre V12 convertible in black, cream leather and a history file going back to the day it was built, stuffed full of receipts showing exceptional love and devotion.
