  Non-coupe options I've been looking at include the late old-shape Mondeo V6, the Mitsubishi Galant V6, Mazda Xedos and the top-end late old-shape Nissan Primeras. Any thoughts on the above choices are most welcome - and of course any other suggestions. Cheers in advance!

  My Nissan in Thailand is an excellent car but lacks the dynamics of a SAAB or Audi, the Isuzu pickup has now reached 250,000 miles on original engine and gearbox, superb machine tough as old boots on or off road.

  Hello all i am new to the forums, always browsing so i though't id finally join up! Anyway i am having a problem with my Nissan 100nx. In November 2010 my differential in my gearbox kinda exploded leaving a massive hole in the gearbox and rendering the car useless. I got the car trailered to a local garage and they told me it would need a new gearbox and i could either supply a second hand gearbox or let them find a refurbished gearbox.

  Hi, I?m a 22 year old student and I have been given a 1985 C Nissan Cherry 1.3GS. The bodywork is in reasonable condition for the cars age ? especially as they were renowned for having bodywork trouble and the engine looks OK although there are a few little niggles:- When started from cold (all electrical items off, in neutral, depress the clutch, pump the accelerator to the floor twice then turn the key without touching the accelerator) it fires after about three turns of the starter and it runs at a fast tickover on the auto choke and seems to tick over without any problem.

  I need something with a lot of space and where the rear seats fold down into a bed. So a minivan or van base. I had thought of a Nissan Elgrand but am put off by the fuel costs. Has anyone got any suggestions? Seems like most of these are Japanese imports, which is fine, but I don't know a huge amount about what is available.

  They are only one of three companies making this size and rating of tyre. I have them on a +2 and am very impressed.  Interestingly when in discussion with Nissan they did agree that the speed rating of the tyres as supplied was very safe and tyres with a lower speed rating could be used if they meet the legal requirements. They do not specify them as they have tested them.

  There seem to be about 4 types, 1.6, 2, 2.2 and 3 litre engines fitted (excluding some smaller ones). How many manufacturers are there of these 4 sizes. Do Audi, Renault/Nissan, Mercedes, BMW, Citroen/Peugeot, Fiat, Ford, Jaguar/Land Rover, VW/Seat, Honda, Chrysler, Toyota, Hyundai etc all make their own?   If not, from whom do they buy the engine?

  I have just replaced ChampiroBXT tyres on the front of 1998 Nissan Primera Estate. Tyres had a treadwear 520 I replaced them after 56000 miles - were not worn out but had tread of about 2-2.5mm. Using this treadwear suggestes Michelin with treadwear 400 should last over 40000 miles, Goodyere treadwear 240 should exceed 24000 miles.

  I know the skoda superb is highly rated (84cm), the citroen berlingo/peugeot partner is the best rear leg room in the mpv van come car market (74 cm). I also understand the mondeo is one of the best as well (78 cm) and the nissan note is meant to be the best small car for rear leg room (74 cm). What are the current top 10 of new cars?

  Why do they try to fool us that one is better than the other, do they get backhanders ? The same with the Suzuki Alto/Nissan model, and such as the Peugoet/Fiat/Citroen van range also the older Ford Fiesta/Mazda.

  Just read a thread in which the washer reservoir cap of a Nissan Note was likened to the foil top of a milk bottle. This got me thinking about flimsy car parts, something that might just be capable of doing the job, but you look at and your heart sinks. My nomination is the rear plastic bumper on the CC3.

  Hi all, i recently saw a 'retro' looking car on a 2004 plate that looked like a Nissan Figaro, but I don't think it was a figaro as they are all registered in 1990-91, and this one looked a bit more 'updated' but still had the looks of a figaro.. can anyone put me out of my misery and tell me some options as to the company/model of the car i saw??

  In the last year I know of at least 3 local-ish Subaru dealers who have stopped selling new Subarus and moved to other brands: Lockwood & Greenwood -Manchester (Nissan) Triangle - Chesterfield (Kia) Montys - Sheffield (Suzuki) I was thinking of buying a used Legacy, and was waiting for prices to drop further. Now I'm wondering if I'd have future problems with parts and servicing if Subaru's UK presence disappears.

  I know you are all gona scream mondeo at me or mazda6 or focus. I want a good choice, up to £10K. I too would love a mitsibushi animal d4d or nissan 4x4 thing. but what are they like driving at 30-40K miles a year? Will I get bored quick?

  Hi, My '97 Nissan Primera GT squeals on startup. Basically, ignition key turned, engine started up for about one second, then followed by about one second of squealing noise, then all fine. It's been doing this for about 2 weeks now, and hasn't got better or worse.

  A friend and work collegue of mine has been offered a large discount off a Nissan X Trail that is is advertised as `Eupopean Union Import`. Am I right in thinking there are insurance and re-sale implications to buying one of these,and probably the instruments would read in KPH rather than MPH.

  I followed a Nissan Micra this morning which had a sticker in the back window proclaiming "I don't buy ESSO". At the risk of generating anti-oil company rants, can anybody give me a clue as to why he'd do this. I seeem to recall an anti-Esso campaign a few years ago, and even then I wasn't at all clear what it was all about.

  A mate of mine is in the market for a soft roader. He's narrowed down his search to either a Nissan X-Trail or Hyundai Tucson. He could possibly stretch to a new Tucson, and is impressed with the Hyundai warranty package. If an X-Trail, it would be second hand. I think he prefers the looks of the X-Trail, but has read a few horror stories on other forums about reliability and customer care.

  Must be big, comfortable, unloved (to keep the price down), relatively cheap to maintain and cheap spares so no luxury marques! Possibles are: Peugeot 607, Skoda Superb, Nissan QX. Price between 5-10K Any criticisms/suggestions welcome. Regards DougB.
