Accident with a cycle and 13 year olds 28 Nov 2014 (Forum)
My sister was recently involved in a accident with two 13 year olds on a cycle, one was riding it the other was sat on the handle bars. They were going so fast the bonnet is dented, along with the wing and scraped through to the metal as well as one of the headlight is cracked. -

Volvo S40 old model 26 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I drive a diesel every day and around town it has a gentle diesel thrum, but not so loud you can't hear people talking. The noise of the engine in this vehicle really suprised me and was reminisecent of my old Ford 1.8 diesel! -
number plates 6 Oct 2003 (Forum)
during a nostalgic moment the other night,my friends and myself were discussing all the old cars we used to own,one chap who has had hundreds can still recall them all by their number plates, which prompted me to recall my fathers old hillman super minx which he had in the late 60's. this old banger ended its life on the council tip, but i was wondering what the reg plate would have been worth today,(in those days plate transfer/selling was virtually unheard of)it was RAF 633,any body care to comment?. -
Need a comfortable car with high seats for £15k 14 May 2016 (Ask HJ)
I am a pensioner. I drive 7000 miles a year, which is mostly short trips, with occasional long motorway trips. I want a comfortable car with high seats... -
Citroen Xsara Picasso - Old story: Car hit by possibly uninsured driver 12 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I wasn't there but this is what I was told. A relative's Citroen was alongside another car, facing a red light and waiting for it to change. A third car came up from behind, between the first two and collided with both. My relative's car was a write-off, losing a rear wheel in the process but no-one was injured. -
Ineffective Aircon - Rover 220 17 May 2004 (Forum)
No overheating or other odd temperature behaviour. One thing which has been suggested is that the old car may have had the "old" type of refrigerant (whatever that is), and the new car a different, less effective, type. I'm not aware that the old car ever had its refrigerant replaced but the new one certainly has. -
Notice of intended prosecution received for speed 12 Jul 2023 (Forum)
Hi guys, I have received NIP today. It is for my old car that i have not driven for about three weeks now. Currently trying to sell that car. Date of the speeding offence is 17/06/23. I was not driving that car on that date or even my new car on that road on that date. -
Upmarket cars - Leather car seats......why? 21 Nov 2022 (Forum)
I wonder why, in this age of comfortable durable fabrics, the expensive preparation and treatment of cattleskin is widely used for car seats and surroundings. Very few would choose it for chairs in the home - why in cars? I much preferred the fabric of my old cars to the leather of my current one - on which I use a thin cushion. -
Two cars, one NCD 27 Jul 2007 (Forum)
As a result of getting an unexpected car (other thread), I'll have to sell one our current cars. If it takes me a few weeks to sell the old cars, I'll have to get some insurance for the new one and old one, I'm guessing on the same policy? -
ALL - LED HEADLIGHTS & NIGHT DRIVING 24 Feb 2024 (Forum)
They might very well obey the regns. as regards the number of Lumens emitted, but they still dazzle, and no doubt accidents have been caused (but of course nothing can be proved...) And don't get me started on the number of cars, vans, lorries and even buses, with one dead headlight! Being "old school" I always flashed my headlights when a car approached at night with no lights on, and now I increasingly do so to cars with only one. -
Old cars, especially historic vehicles - Rubber fuel lines 27 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Yet another example of the quality and longevity of the components of this much underrated British car. -

How worthwhile would it be to get the air con regas done on my 10 year old Audi TT? It's done 49,300 miles. -
My car has had 11 previous owners - is this bad? 21 Oct 2014 (Ask HJ)
I bought a 15 year old Honda Prelude today that is clean, with no rust and a full service history. The mileage is 70,000 miles, but the V5 shows 11 previous... -
Is the 2010 SEAT Ibiza ST 1.4 petrol any good? 19 Sep 2013 (Ask HJ)
Would you say there are any compelling reasons for NOT buying a 2010 SEAT Ibiza ST (1.4 petrol) with 42,000 miles on the clock? I’ve been offered the car... -
No stock - orders only 13 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Some models of the Jazz are order ony. There was a report out today talking about the rise in value of used cars and the scarcity of used cars around three years old. I'm now not surprised at this. People who want to buy new and px their three year old car seem to be having to hold onto them as they cannot get new ones. -
Espada's new car 16 Nov 2006 (Forum)
For me, its real selling points were (in no particular order) a huge amount of internal storage room, great ride for a sporty car, and easy access and egress. It has also been supremely reliable. So what to replace it with? Well I've taken Dad's old Forester (a 99V with 40,000miles) , and traded it in for a 14 month old, 20,000 mile, Subaru Outback 3.0Rn. -
Are older cars really safer for younger drivers? 9 Feb 2013 (Ask HJ)
You've advised someone looking for a cheap car for their 17-year-old son to consider a small classic such a Morris Minor. I'm very concerned about this... -
