Fuel Duty Escalator Again? 2 Sep 2006 (Forum)
You will, for example, see the reintroduction of a fuel duty escalator, I'm quite sure," Mr Norris told BBC Radio 4's World at One." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/09/01/ntory01.xml Kevin... -
Corsa 2002 - dash dials 'losing power' 24 Jul 2006 (Forum)
This happened at least 10 times, but only for 2 seconds or so at most before they would return to 'normal'. Nothing else appeared to be affected - not lights, not radio. Any ideas whats wrong? A fuse somewhere perhaps? The battery? -

Hi all, Just fitting a new stereo to my Mk3 Golf Estate after taking out an old Blaupunkt system. The radio stations aren't staying in the memory so its a taking from the ignition switch 12v. Ka CD player fault 29 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Hello all, have a problem with Mrs 3T's stereo, the cd bit works fine, the radio function is dying. Symptoms are that the signal doesn't seem to hold its strength- the volume goes up and down , bit of interferance can be heard when at its worst. I have checked the aerial is in its socket on the roof and that the other end is connected well.Does anyone know whether its worth getting repaired? -
Selling Vauxhall Corsa - price? 27 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Red in colour and has faded a little, although I'll be dealing with that before selling along with the black trim. CD radio, sunroof, recent cambelt. I was going to chuck it in for £1,750. Is that fair, or a little optimistic? Cheers, Steve -
Ramblings 11 Feb 2005 (Forum)
An item on the radio yesterday prefaced an report on speeding with the notion that it was responsible for "one third of fatal accidents". This is undoubtedly someone's opinion, but to hear it presented as undisputed fact was a bit unsettling. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - Replacing original head unit on '99 306 15 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I want to replace the original radio/cassette on my 99 306 HDi LX, probably with a Sony DXS2000. Anyone experience of replacing the orignial unit? Do I need a special tool to remove it? I understand I'll need to get a facia panel to match the original, but what about connecting up the new unit? -
Fiat Punto flat battery 20 Jul 2004 (Forum)
The alternator is charging OK, the car exhibits no other problems. I've checked for the usual things like interior/boot lights or radio left on. Are there any known faults that drain current such as central locking or other areas that I could check or isolate by removing the fuses? -
Death Ray of the future now 15 Jul 2004 (Forum)
"Police forces in Britain and the US have ordered tests of the new system that delivers a blast of radio waves powerful enough to knock out vital engine electronics, making the targeted vehicle stall and slowly come to a stop." http://www.guardian.co.uk/life/news/story/0,12976,1259139,00.html Sorry, but if a vehicle travelling at 100mph in a persuit is hit by this beam, and the engine stalls, how will it "slowly come to a stop"? -
Very annoying squeak! Nissan Primera. 11 Mar 2004 (Forum)
It is apparent between the speeds of 20 - 40 miles per hour and appears to be coming from the wheels on the nearside. The Car has done 80K miles.I have been coping by turning the volume of the radio up however this is not always convenient. Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause and how I may rectify the problem without having to pay a garage? Many Thanks, Jez -

Astra road noise 4 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Is this a common problem with my line of Astras, or is it something else that I can have fixed? Or should I just turn the radio up?! ;) -
Fixed Penalties for Parents 3 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Just heard this on radio news, but can't find anything on the 'net yet. The government is to introduce fines for parents of children who regularly bunk school. Newsreader said it would be based on the fixed penalty system that targets motorists. -
Removing the battery from a modern car? 31 Jul 2003 (Forum)
As most modern cars have electronic management systems , are there any safeguards required when disconnecting/changing the car battery. I know about the Radio Security code but wondered if these management systems also "lost" their memory on disconnection of the battery supply for a long period of time ? I`ve been "told " , that on Fords , the engine management system "recalibrates" itself over the next 10 miles. -
Mitsubishi Legnum/Galant 27 May 2003 (Forum)
I have just acquired, perhaps ill-advisedly, a 'grey' 1997 Legnum It has a multi communication system that looks after Sat/nav, radio, Aircon, CD etc. via a 7 inch 'touch screen' monitor. Yes - you've guessed - it's all in Japanese!! Does anyone know where I can get an English CD for the Control Unit? Unfortunately, the UK supplied Galants do not feature this highly desirable piece of kit as an optional extra. -
Superstitious battery charging 7 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Mostly motorway. 95 Micra 1.0. On cold mornings, about 1 mile from my work destination, I switch off: * heater fan * radio * lights (if safe to do so) I do this in the (probably mistaken) belief that this will ensure the battery is "well charged up" for when I have to start it again 8 hours later, at 5PM in the evening. -
Why keep the engine running? 13 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Job took perhaps 25 minutes. He left the engine running on his Transit all the time. Apart from having the radio on (loud of course), there was nothing else to drain the battery. Chris M -
Flying car makes first flight. 5 Jul 2021 (Forum)
But hey, there is a lot of money sloshing about out there these days. In fact I was just hearing on the radio the other day about how many new billionaires there are in the world this year, so no doubt, they will be able to sell enough to make it worth doing!. But lets face it, it isn't the most graceful looking thing when in its 'car' mode!.
