  • rear parking sensors 26 Feb 2011 (Forum)
has any one had problems with the rear parking sensors fitted to many new cars. have brand new micra and when weather wet or when its cold the sensors play up making a constant tone instead of the usual blipping. nissan have said that they think one of the four sensors is getting water in it. just wondered if other vehicles fitted with this system also have problems.
  • Renault - Renault master 3.0 16 Sep 2009 (Forum)
The Master range of which I have a 2.2 version and well documented here, apparently produced for a very short period I believe, a 3.0 version with a Nissan engine with some 150 BHP iirc. Does anyone know of any inherent problems with this lump. I may be able to get hold of a low mileage much loved example and wish to cover all bases. TIA..........Martin D
  • Unusual (illegal?) registrations 9 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Observed today on her majesty's highway, a white Nissan Skyline, with very loud exhaust system, and a 5 digit registration. The format was 3466x where x is a digit 1 to 9. The number plate was black, with polished aluminium numerals. There were no symbols on the rear of the car indicating nationality.
  • Buying a new car on HJ's guidelines 10 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Anyone used HJ's New Car buying formula to successfully negotiate a deal lately (take the best OTR price, then take away the road tax and veh reg fee, then knock off 15%)? If so which manufacturer? I may try this with Nissan or Hyundai shortly. Also, anyone used Autoebid, a reverse auction house which charges a fee for its services?
  • Best PCP deals? 24 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Also noticed that the business deals seem better, has anyone just set up a business to take advantage of them or as I suspect I am missing something here? Best I found was £150 for a Nissan note over two years. Anyone know of any better deals?
  • How many cars have sliding rear seats? 7 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Out of idle curiousity, how many cars have sliding rear seats that allow one to choose between giving more knee room to back seat passengers, and creating more room in the boot? I have encountered these on the Nissan Micra and Toyota Yaris, and thought it was a great idea - but I gather that not many manufacturers are taking up the idea.

  • Any reliable manufacturers out there? 1 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Now it appears that the 'if it's your money, buy Japanese' adage is slipping, as I read more and more about manufacturing economies biting into the historical reputation of the likes of Toyota and Nissan. Is there a single manufacturer that can claim the crown?
  • CAT C Insurance " Car For Sale" 15 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I have the chance to buy a Nissan Primera 2.2 dci 2005 for £5990 but it has a CAT C Insurance mark on it and has been fully repaired, how bad is this? should i buy or avoid at all cost? Don't know what sort of damage it had. Oh and also it has a V.I.C passed certificate.
  • Primera Air mass meter 27 Jun 2006 (Forum)
We bought a 2001 Primera with 70k on the clock and FSH, after 4 month the air mass meter had to be replaced as the car pulling power slowly degraded. We were amazed by the fact that to replace the part the Nissan service centre is asking £475. Is this reasonable for this kind of fault? And is this typical for Primeras? We specifically got the car based on its reliability reputation and now feel a bit disappointed
  • MK 3 Micra Service Spanner 13 Dec 2005 (Forum)

  • Almera head gasket? 1 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I have a 96 P reg nissan almera. It has recently started to overheat and use up coolant. I have just noticed small amounts of oil in the coolant. Am i right in assuming that it is the head gasket going? If so would using radweld or something similar sort out the problem?
  • Warranty Legislation - Clarification 27 Nov 2004 (Forum)
But the dealer I bought the Pimastar van from seemed to imply in a letter to me that it needs to be serviced by a Nissan Dealer. Hugo
  • Ugliest Front End 25 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Cliff, with his latest post on the 'Ugliest Rear End' thread has set us a challenge I think. I'm sure we can come up with quite a few, can't we? :D To start us off, what about the Nissan 100NX with those weird deep-set headlights? Or the frog-eyed Scorpio? Morgan Aero 8 has a face that only a mother could love.
  • Worn tyres 19 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Hello I recently purchased a 2001 Nissan Almera with 18k on the clock from a dealer. The garage had only taken the car in that day and had not cleaned it up. My query relates to the tyre condition. The two front tyres were pretty worn and the two back ones were fine.
  • Primera brakes 30 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I have a 1997 2litre Nissan Primera. When I push the brake pedal really hard (with the engine running) I can feel the pedal come to a mechanical stop before it is anywhere near the floor. The brakes don't feel really up to the mark under an emergency stop either.
  • Warming up period 30 Sep 2002 (Forum)
The handbook for my K11 Nissan Micra recommends letting the car idle for at least 30 secs after start up, presumably to let the car warm up. Surely some mistake? Isn't the best policy to drive off straight after starting -- the engine will warm up quicker that way, anyway.

  • VW VR6 twin-chain cambelt 9 May 2002 (Forum)
In the Saturday Telegraph on 27 April, HJ said "The twin-chain systems on VW VR6s and smaller Nissans can stretch and break". As the owner of a Mk III VR6 Golf with 25,000 miles on the clock, I'd be grateful for any further advice or information about this. One would think that normal servicing procedures should take care of any risks, but perhaps extra measures are called for.
  • NissanAlmera - audio equipment 23 May 2001 (Forum)
Hello ! I have just bought a Nissan Almera, and want to change the rather poor Radio, however unlike other cars it seems to be built into the dashboard, ie, there is a flange on the dashboard which seems to make it impossible to remove the old unit.
