  Failure to pay means that I will have to tax the car myself (not a problem) but also then process the V5C form myself. I’m just wondering if anyone could explain what this means exactly? Is it merely a case of me filling out some section of the V5C - putting myself down as the new owner and the dealer as the previous owner?

But when I returned the keys and paper work I also returned the V5C/2 (A little green form) and it was returned before the main V5C certificate had come through to me.   The rest of the V5C is kept by myself until the vehicle is sold - whereupon: The buyer fills in the 'new keeper' section 6, and signs the right-hand declaration in section 8. I give the buyer section 10, then send the rest of the V5C back to DVLA.
