Why has a new V5C log book been issued?

I have found a VW Scirocco at a local dealer that I'm interested in buying.

I have done a search on the Gov.uk website, checked the Tax and MoT history and status and it's showing how the 'date of last V5C (log book) issued' was 27 May 2022.

Does anyone know why this could be? Surely the dealer isn't registering as the new keeper before selling?

Thanks guys.

A new V5C log book can be issued for a number of reasons. If the car had a private number plate, for example, then a new V5C would be issued. Likewise, if the V5C had been lost or the car had a disabled road tax market then a new logbook would also be issued.
