  • BMW X5 E53 SUV (2000 - 2007) - 05 3.0 LPG conversion of 4 x 4 10 Nov 2009 (Forum)
It's ok for the summer but no winter is kicking in I am not looking forward to it. Anyway, I am considering a BMW X5 but was wondering if I could reduce running costs by having an LPG conversion done on it. Does anyone know how much this would change the MPG? Currently the 3.0 petrol model is 34.4 Extra urban and 20.6 Urban. Also, any idea's how much a conversion would be and is it straight forward?

  • Just feasable car commute LPG? 9 Dec 2008 (Forum)
RAV happens to be fantastically reliable. 1)Not sure if to sell the RAV and pick up an elderly but maybe reliable diesel. or 2)use the Picasso each day 3)at some point convert the Citroen to run on lpg 4)Buy a used LPG car, maybe a Vauxhall Astra duel fuel.Old shape Astra's available for around 2K. Unleaded currently 90.9 pence LPG 53.9 pence maybe available cheaper. Conversion cost £1200-£1500.

  • Ignition or carburetor problem. BMW 316 4 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I went to BMW dealership, and they could not do anything about it. On cold starts rpm is to low ~1000 rpm. But when I switch at LPG it goes up at normal ~1700 rpm and then goes down as it warmes up. Now to my question. How do find why is it shaking? It is the same on both LPG and petrol. Could it be ignition. I had a lot of advice's to bin Pierburg and get a Weber carburetor, but I would fee very stupid to find (after spending a lot of money) that it's ignition problem.
  • LPG Conversion Problem. Toyota Carina. 14 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I have just had my Toyota Carina 2.0i (1992 model) with 20,000 miles converted to LPG. The car in question is mechanically sound. The system installed was a carburetor type installation and the car is now dual fuel with the ability to run on petrol and gas. I am having three problems with the car on gas (which does not occur on petrol) 1.
  • LPG conversions 20 Nov 2001 (Forum)
LPG conversion offers reduced fuel costs for petrol engined vehicles but the cost of having a conversion fitted seems quite high at around £1000. Considering that the Government will put the tax up as soon as they start to lose significant revenue it seems that the only way to gain from a conversion is to fit it to a thirsty vehicle and get the conversion done for as little as is compatible with safety.

  • sluggish Range Rover 31 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Other advise I had was a complete top end rebuid with a new camshaft as camshafts only last 100,000 miles As I thought I was being had I put the problem on this page. I received 3 replies all of which suggested the LPG system wanted tuning. So I screwed the LPG regulator a turn and also turned the distributer a tad. Hey Presto quite a difference , at least I am now satisfied with its performance. and saved at least 500 quid!!!!!!!
  • EU reviewing fuel taxes 21 Feb 2010 (Forum)
"It would at best be a mid-term change," he said. In the next few years, demand for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as a vehicle fuel could grow, because of its green credentials, he said. Some European governments, including Germany, subsidise LPG prices at the pump and this has boosted consumption. "LPG might be a good bridging fuel to get to decarbonisation in transport," he said.
  • Vauxhall Corsa - Simple Question, Quick Answer 3 Aug 2012 (Forum)
I got the car home and I am currently reading the instruction manual. However, the fuel type for the new car says Petrol/LPG. I know that LPG stands for Liquified Petroleum Gas but I am not sure what this is? When I go to the garage to fill up, am I putting in the usual Unleaded Petrol? Am I putting in something with a little more kick (more eco-friendly)?

  • Advice on which car to buy. 27 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I have my eye on a few cars - BMW 330D, Jaguar X-Type 2.0D, Vauxhall Vectra SRi CDTi 150, and a few others. I need a diesel, as I do the miles. Going off what I currently get on LPG and with the price of LPG, I need around 41MPG average from my next car. So a diesel is the right option. Styling is something I do take into consideration. I don't want a bottom of the range (LX, Life, etc.) in my car - vain I know.
