  Hi, I have a 2.0 HDI (90) 53 plate Xsara Picasso Exclusive. This past week I have noticed a strong diesel smell coming into the cabin and it has been traced to a leak to the right side (looking in on top of engine) of the main diesel injector pump, most likely the o-ring has went. I took it to a local garage and they said they last tried replacing a o-ring on the same kind of engine (Peugeot) and it just made the problem worse, the reckon a new fuel pump will be the best option.

  I was running my 2002 passat tdi on 100% pure bio diesel without problem but have just changed it for the new Honda Civic 2.2 diesel. I can't find any information on the internet about using bio diesel in the new Honda engines. Although I would normally try anything once it's a big risk deliberately putting the wrong fuel in a brand new car.

  The D.I.L. 's Corsa 1.7 diesel has started to run rough, similar to having a missing plug. It was refuelled with fresh diesel, the receipt says so. I drove it after she used it and for me it ran OK. The local garage, not being a diesel specialist, looked at the fuel for water contamination and said it was fine but changed the fuel filter just as a precaution.

  It is the 1.9 105bhp PD engine, used it before on old Mondy never saw any difference, but would have needed a strip down to see if any cleaner inside. As all manufacurers, VAG do not recommend any fuel additives, but Millers is well respected in diesel circles. I normally use Shell fuel, and this would work out cheaper than their premium diesel. Or is it snake oil? I don't mind spending a little more if it helps the longevity of the car.

  I was wondering what peoples oppinions are on fueling up your car. I have limited knowledge but i see fueling your car with good fuel as beneficial in lots of way. I admit i have limited knowledge but surely putting good fuel in will help prevent long term damage or wear and tear on the mechanics; especially in diesels.

  Having heard you can use chip fat oil as a substitute for diesel fuel, I was wondering whether you could use new sunflower oil or new vegetable oil? Is veg oil better to use than sunflower oil? Also, can it damage the engine using this as a fuel. Finally, can one mix the diesel with the sunflower/ veg oil safely?
