Tinted Windows 29 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I read in the paper this morning about the police in Manchester refusing to let a driver with his family in the vehicle drive his car, because the tinted windows were too dark,as it prevented him from having vision of other road users. He had to get the car taken back to London by a motoring organisation Why can't they do the same to motorists driving without Insurance,Road tax, No licence,No M.O.T. -

clunking auto box 10 May 2003 (Forum)
Is it serious or could an autobox service sort it out? The gearbox otherwise performs perfectly driving at speed. Any thoughts welcome. -
Diesel Chipping 8 May 2003 (Forum)
E320 Cdi and love it to bits but I keep reading about how chipping a diesel engine produces so much more driveability. My car is fantastic to drive, leaves most cars in its wake, loads of torque for relaxed driving and is fairly economical. My point is that if a designed using millions and millions why would an aftermarket chip be any better than what is already fitted? -
146 mph Skoda 14 Mar 2003 (Forum)
The driver had borrowed the 2.6 litre Octavia from a showroom. He was jailed for 1 year and banned from driving for 10 years. He had already been banned from driving in Scotland, and admitted a string of offences, including failing to provide a blood sample following his arrest for the speeding offence. -
Driving Theory Test 6 Mar 2003 (Forum)

Vehicles outside the Backroom 3 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Following on from the resounding success of Vin's "Life outside the Backroom" thread in Discussion, it seems a good idea to have a similar idea about cars and other vehicles owned/driven by contributors. So please, add a note here mentioning what cars you own/drive. No problem with mentioning cars you have owned, but its what people drive now that interests me. Mark. -
Re Astra Wheel bearing post 9 May 2002 (Forum)

Motorway Speeding 9 Apr 2002 (Forum)
A simple question: Has anyone personal knowledge of a motorist prosecuted for driving on a UK motorway (with the NSL of 70mph in force) at : A. 75-80 mph B. 80-85 mph I have not. I am aware the mere mention of speed cameras, speed limits or the police is sufficient to drive Bogush and his ilk into a frenzy. -
Cheap tyres. 6 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Look after a Peugeot 306 TD. Always enjoy the drive in it due to sharp handling and good grip. Picked it up today and noticed the previous Goodyears were replaced by Camac tyres. The handling and grip are terrible now, turn-in is sluggish and they feel like driving on mud. -
Pontiac Fiero 30 Mar 2001 (Forum)
The company producing the kits reckon its a good base bue to the modular construction and fully treated space frame chassis. Has anyone got any views about how they actually drive though? Be a shame to create something that looks spectacular if it drives like most other American cars! Any wisdom from owners or ex owners would be welcomed! -
Brake's Corporate Funding 9 Oct 2011 (Forum)
However, they've now turned into another politically correct anti-car movement which spouts endless drivel, dreamed up by people unqualified to have an opinion on such matters and resort to some downright crass antics to get their point across. They believe the only way to drive safely is to drive as slowly as possible, they are totally obsessed with speed. To give you an example a couple of years ago a woman by the name of Mrs Cole was banned from driving for 7 days because she was on the M32 in Bristol doing no more than 10mph and wandering unpredictably between lanes. -
Ford Focus - Ford TDCI limp mode issues 8 Jul 2021 (Forum)
That lasted for a few weeks and then it cut out while driving. AA recovered to a garage who confirmed AA diagnosis of EGR valve and replaced. £350 later I picked the car up. Mechanic advised the car also had a problem with the boost solenoid and so was still down on power but would drive. -

Calling any driving instructors! 20 Jun 2005 (Forum)
My other option is to keep going steady in a semi-secure call centre role that would certainly offer more stability than a driving school, but offers nothing like the level of flexibility that I would like in an ideal world and pays around £6.50 an hour. I guess what I'm really after is general advice or words of wisdom from anyone who has had anything to do with driving instruction or better yet, has their own school. -
Death by Dangerous Driving and Leniancy? 27 Dec 2004 (Forum)

Volkswagen Polo - VW Polo 1.2L 2007 misfiring over 60mph 2 Dec 2021 (Forum)
The cylinder head was also taken to an engineer for a skim and valves & seals were changed. While they weren't able to tell me what had happened, the car was driving perfectly and didn't seem to have any issues. I live in London so most driving for the first few weeks was at a max speed of 40mph. I took it out for its first motorway drive a few weeks ago. 10 mins into the M25 and the check engine light started flashing and car went into limp mode. -
Honda CR-V - Flat spots on rear tyre and judder while driving 4 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Hello everyone, I inherited a 2004 Honda CR-V from my Dad, and in the two years he had it he didn't drive it that much but he didn't look after it either. It's a lovely car inside and I decided to drive it to replace my own Peugeot 107. However, there is one thing that always nagged me about the Honda when my Dad had it and that was when you would do a full lock to either the right or left at slow speeds and the car would (quite violently) judder until you straightened it up. -
Pensioner Leads Police On 27 Mile Chase At 10mph 9 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Barry Wheatcroft, chairman of the bench, disqualified Turner from driving for 12 months, fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 costs. Mr Wheatcroft said: "The safety of the public is paramount and your driving yesterday was a demonstration of driving which was careless bordering on dangerous."
