  • Pug306 steering wheel volume control 24 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I have a 1999 Peugeot 306 which has the usual steering wheel volume control/search stick. The radio is the standard for the vehicle. The control stick isn't functioning at all, does anyone know if it is a complicated piece of work to repair the fault or if it's expensive? Would it be best to take to a Peugeot dealer rather than independent?
  • New Volvo S40/V50 - poor reliability? 22 Jan 2006 (Forum)
But trawling around other motoring websites and consumer reports (both UK and US) shows a lot of owners complaining of electrical niggles. Flat batteries, radio not working, all sorts of warning lights coming on - sounds like the car is beset with electrical gremlins. Any advice would be very much appreciated, thanks. Ykl
  • Nissan Primera P10 bulb replacement 24 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Two questions. One What am I risking if I don't disconnect the battery lead? Two. Will I need to input the radio security code if I do disconnect. The code may be hard/impossible to find. All advice gratefully received
  • Fiesta Wire Loom Query 23 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Hi all, I am putting a new cd player into a Mk3 fiesta when I removed the old one from the car there is a grey/yellow wire, coming from the car loom end not the radio, which isn't connected to anything. Not sure if it should be it's been stripped and just hanging bare. Does anyone know what it is for. I've worked out it's not a speaker cable. Thanks as always Steveo
  • A74 24 Hour Closure 23 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Are we deliberatly keeping away from this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cumbria/4119961.stm ) story, lest it becomes another police bashing thread? I honestly don't believe all the people phoning into radio programs and news stations to say that there were no warnings of the closure, no diversions, no one in authority moving up and down the queues to inform people, and no provision of provisions, except by the St Johns Ambulance.

  • 4x4's to be banned in.....Paris 15 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Yep, apparently it's true according to a radio news programme I heard this afternoon with a Labour MP - Paul Flynn ? - 4x4's will soon be banned from Paris! Given Red Ken's recent comments about 4x4's, I think if he gets re-elected there's a good chance he'll try the same tactic in London.
  • A basic (perhaps even stupid) question 3 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I know that shrugged shoulders of despair will result, but please sympathize and indulge me by answering these questions: Can the battery on my Saab 9.3 Tid be charged (with a mains operated battery charger) in situ whilst still connected to the electrics ? Apart from the radio code, do I need to be aware anything else if the battery is disconnected: ie will the ECU and other electronic gubbins reset itself etc ? With thanks in anticipation AI
  • Car Speed Limited by GPS 3 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Did anyone else just hear the article on Radio 1's Newsbeat (12:55)? Was about a car that uses GPS positioning with a database of speed limits, to limit the speed of a car. The reporter was in a 30 zone in Leeds and put his foot to the floor and the car wouldn't go above 30!
  • oil company boycott 23 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Has anyone else heard about this? Listening to the radio on Friday and someone was talking about an email going round suggesting that people boycott a particular oil companys' outlets in an attempt to lower petrol prices. I think they were talking about Shell/BP and boycotting them for the rest of the year but others suggested different days for each different company.
  • Schizo Alternator? 1 Aug 2002 (Forum)
At 2500 RPM the terminals read about 13.5V The tachometer jumps around a lot while driving. Sometimes when I hit the brakes, the radio goes off, but not always. Anyone have a diagnosis?
  • PEUGEOT 306 PROBLEMS 14 Apr 2002 (Forum)
The horn is not working properly, emits a feeble squeak. The water washers have stopped working and the radio only works on the stalk which means I can search through for channels and change volume. I would like to have a look at the parts before going to a garage but nothing seems accessible. Is this intentional or can anyone advise please?
  • Yankee doodle dandy 7 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Just got back from the US and suffered a chevy cavalier - can anyone confirm this is actually a rebadged neon? Anyway, it was 2.2 litres and absolutely dire!! Noisy, slow, couldn't hear the radio for wind noise and it only had 13k on the clock. I'm sure there are some good cars in the US but when you hire it appears to be luck of the draw and not based on the high brit expectations !! Anyone know how to get a "good" car for my next visit?
  • Golf PD 150 - why? 27 Mar 2002 (Forum)
But it is still VERY noisy and it still vibrates a LOT. And it costs almost 20k in 5 door guise with metallic, climate, and a decent radio/CD added. Golf build quality isn't streets ahead of the pack anymore. Lots of middleweights handle better and have more space. If you must have a Golf then the 1.8T and V5 are much nicer to drive.
  • "Congestion" Charging 28 Feb 2002 (Forum)
All day they have discussing this subject on radio 2, apparently the Govt wants to fit every vehicle with a Black box so that its movements can be tracked ( by satellite ) and you will recieve an invoice every month related to the amount of time you have been sitting in a traffic jam ?
  • Ex-company cars 6 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Listening to radio 5 on way home tonight. There was item about new tax changes to company cars this April. It seems that a lot of drivers of larger engined cars are to be hammered with tax increases of the order of £1200 p.a for something like a 2.5 Mondeo.

  • Isuzu D-Max - "Check System" message, keyfob failure 5 Dec 2023 (Forum)
Key fob will not restart vehicle once engine stopped until it has been taken out of range of the car for a period - half an hour seems to work.  Dealer tried moving receiver down away from behind central display, radio, etc, saying it was related to radio warming, but that has not worked.  Same occurs with both key fobs and no indication of low battery.  This occurred later the same day that I damaged the towbar socket, letting in water.
  • Renault Clio II 1999 - Renault Clio 1.2 8v mk2 Non Starter No Coil Volts 21 May 2015 (Forum)
Once, I had disconnected battery for several minutes and then reconnected and it still didn't start, but I then recoded radio and clock, and it started. I turned the car on and off several times ok, but in the morning tried again and no start. Doing the battery disconnect and radio code made no difference. It has not run since.
