  • Skoda Yeti 1.2 6 speed manual gearbox. - A cautionary tale 1 Mar 2019 (Forum)
I bought a 64 reg Yeti from a Skoda main dealer in March 17, with 12,500 miles on the clock. I was assured that it had been a Skoda courtesy car, and fully serviced. SInce then I had it serviced at the required intervals, and always using the services recommended by the Skoda main dealer. The car has now just done 29,000 miles, when a whining noise appeared from the front of the car.
  • Astra 1.6 ecotec d - Astra 19 Plate Clutch Issue 9 Jul 2019 (Forum)
When it happened revs were all over the place and gear notifications went berserk, but car didnt go into limp mode. Taken to dealership who are going to look at it under warranty. Astra 1.6 eco d 19 plate only 5500 miles on the clock, and driven normally not ragged! Managed to get images of fault messages on dash to as back up evidence.
  • Honda UK This countrys debt of Honour 27 Jun 2016 (Forum)
I do not presently own a Honda but previous dealings with Honda have shown me what an honourable company they are when it comes to warranty. Perahaps those of us who want to fly the flag for Britain ought to be examining their concience and buying Honda.

  • '04 Golf 2.0 GT FSI - Software update? 20 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I wait to see if he has. I am however a little concerned, because I am coming to the end of the warranty period and would have thought that inappropriate software would have caused a long-running problem, from day 1, rather than prompt a sudden misfire, after c.25,000 miles? Sadly, I used to be able to restore/fix/understand just about anything automotive, but since cars have gone electronic........!

  • X-type 2.5 Sport Driver central locking 22 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Unfortunately it is one of those intermittent problems that only seems to happen when the wife is using the car! Now as I said the car was in the garage for repairs to the central locking system last year, so what I am wondering is, what is the likelyhood of a problem with one of the linkages inside the door?
  • What hapens to the Lemons? 19 Sep 2004 (Forum)
The two cases I know of is a backroomer who got an 85% refund on his VW, and a friend of ours who managed to get his Y reg Fiat Multipla swapped for a 51 Reg vehicle by Fiat because of all the trouble he had with the Y reg one. What happens to these cars when they are taken back? Do they simply get fixed then pushed out to some unsuspecting dealer through an auction? Do the main dealers get to sell these cars on as used or do they get reduced to produce for spares and the bits sold though car breakers?
  • Buying/Selling for Profit 22 Apr 2004 (Forum)

Really appreciate any help.
  • MINI Clubman D - Difficulty Rejecting Mini 19 Jul 2024 (Forum)
The car was back with MINI and they were arguing about whether this should be covered under the warranty or if they wanted to charge me for it, at which point I told them I wanted to reject the car. They told me I shouldn't make rash decisions like this and to wait until after the repair work was done before we talk about that, I was quite insistent about this but was fobbed off with a promise to look into the warranty side - at which point they very promptly repaired the car.
  • Audi Q2 - Audi Q2 clutch failure & left on suspension blocks 14 Feb 2022 (Forum)
They are blaming the audi approved garage that carried out our service and saying its not upto audi to pay the £1100 to fix this.   So we are facing nearly £4000 in repairs for a 14 month old car, which we have been driving around with the suspension blocks on and a clutch gone and not under warranty due to drivers fault? I just wondered if anyone is able to assist with this as the suspension blocks is nothing to do with us and the car was sold to us like this.

  • Honda CR-V - Car Servicing 25 Oct 2017 (Forum)
I recently bought a CRV, .2 diesel auto, 5 years old with full Honda service history and Honda Warranty for one year. IT was serviced by Honda just before I bought it. On inspecting the car I found the cabin/ pollen air filter to be filthy and long overdue for replacement. I then checked the engine air filter and that too was filthy, the worst I had ever seen.
  • Having paint work scratches repaired 7 Dec 2009 (Forum)
So I was wondering the following: 1) do any of you recommend Chips Away or the such like? 2) If I was to use a non-Audi workshop would this invalidate my paint or bodywork warranty (car is less than 3 years old)? 3) could I get Autoglym out to reapply their polish after an independent place had done the work?
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - What to follow a 2005 Focus with? 11 Aug 2008 (Forum)
We're considering changing my wife's 2005 1.6 Zetec Climate 5d Hatch (petrol), shortly (next couple of months). The car will be 3 years old in Sept, and we usually keep our cars within warranty periods therefore <3years. I thought this would be easier than it's turning out to be. I liked the look and idea of a 57 Astra 1.9CDTI Design in Motorpoint, as the price was within budget (about 3-4K on the Focus).
