Cheaper petrol 30 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Shell garage on A417 near Fairford, Gloucestershire is down to 84.9 for unleaded and 90.9 for diesel. Seems nuts to put supermarket fuel in your tank when this Shell outlet can price match. Visit outside rush-hour when the queues have gone. -

ford mondeo 2004 tdci 130 - 2004 mondeo tdci 130, fuel contamination help 21 Mar 2012 (Forum)
hello i am new to this site with a problem, i work in a back street garage and we have a mondeo which the cam shaft snapped, we sent it of to a diesel specilist to fix the car they put a new head etc on the car we got it back i notice it is filthy under the engine bay any way i jet wash it down, after the weekend the car was AA'd back not running the guy that repaired it came alone and re programed the injectors ( which were re placed with head ) and ran fine..... for 10 mins then was all lumpy etc, the diesel expert said it needs to be driven to learn, we did and still wouldnt behave, so the expert takes away, then sends it of to another company who stripped the injectors out and say it has water ingress in them and will need new injectors as well as inpection for the whole fuel system to see if there is any other water in system, and they have said that the water could have got there from me jet washing the engine as it would get in the top of the injectors??? -
Poor starting Cavalier Diesel 23 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Things i'm thinking are an air leak somewhere between the turbo and the head, but also could it be drawing air in on a fuel line somewhere, although wouldn't this result in a fuel leak? (i did read on another thread that a chap with a 1.6 diesel cavalier had a chafed fuel line which caused a similar problem) I'm fairly sure its not glow plugs, as its difficult to start when hot too, and also down on power. -
Clio 11 diesel 2001 - Engine won't start when interior is hot. 3 Jun 2017 (Forum)
When the interior gets baking while the car is parked in the sun, the engine won't start but does turn over. As it's diesel it seems like the fuel shut off valve is not opening. The remedy is to open all the windows and a door to allow ventilation and the interior to cool down a bit. Then after a few minutes the engine will start. -

Peugeot 405 Diesel - Leak off pipes 9 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I'm having a bit of a problem starting my 405 diesel after replacing the leak off pipes and fuel filter. I've bled the system with the hand primer but it refuses to start. If I flood it when starting it'll splutter to life but I need to keep the throttle pressed fully and it won't rev past 3000 rpm. -

Generic Diesel Injection Fundamentals 21 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Hi I was wondering if anyone could describe the injection timing variations of a diesel engine, or post a good link (i've looked but not found much) I'm interested in roughly what angle BTDC the average engine /(injection pump) will inject the bulk of fuel and how this will change with speed and load. -
VW Diesel misfire 17 Jul 2003 (Forum)
VW have checked and diagnostics show up nothing amiss. The problem started when the car was filled with petrol instead of diesel and driven. The tank and fuel lines were properly drained by VW and I was informed there would be no further problems. This all happened 2-3k miles ago so I thought any petrol still sitting in the tank would have gone by now. -

BMW 116d EfficiencyDynamics - BMW 116d EfficiencyDynamics fuel consumption? 4 Oct 2016 (Forum)
I bought my very low mileage 13 plate BMW 116d EfficiencyDynamics 6 weeks ago and generally love it, however I am more than a little bit peeeeved about the heavy fuel consumption! For many a long year I have owned diesel engined cars and I have always managed to achieve quite exceptional brim to brim fuel consumption figures, for instance my last car was a Peugeot 307SW 1.6 HDi and I was regularly getting a corrected 60+ mpg. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2.0 HDi fuel problem? 25 May 2012 (Forum)
Peugeot 306 2.0 Diesel HDi. History: Car broke down, diagnosis by AA was fuel pump. Pump was seized (This is the fuel pump that sits in the tank) I replaced the pump with another VDO part. Since then intermittently the engine will only rev up to a maximum of 2,300 rpm. -
Warranty Issue.. 15 Jun 2007 (Forum)
The car develops a starting issue and is sent to the main dealer. The dealer diagnoses the problem as a faulty 'Pre supply fuel pump'. The dealer calls the warranty company, who decline to pay stating the part is not covered. Here is an extract from the policy: 'FUEL SYSTEM Mechanical and electrical fuel pumps, airflow meter, injectors (including injector cooling system), overrun cut-off valve, pressure regulator, sensors, throttle body, fuel gauge and tank sender unit. -
Diesels risks/costs widening on petrol? 13 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Now add on the petrol misfueling, some getting cooking oil, then increasing complexity and repair cost of diesels. Is owning diesel, in particular buying used, even less viable from a cost/risk perspective as every year passes? Even with perfect fueling are diesel complexity and repair costs going to *continue to widen the gap* on petrol? -
