  This happens in continuous or auto mode with them stopping where ever they are mid sweep when the ignition is turned off. The Mazda dealership has checked out the problem and say there is nothing wrong and they are operating as any other car does. I have owned cars that did exactly this but not for the last 40 years or so. They were unable to answer why this problem did not exist during many months of use or why my previous Mazda never did this during the entire time I owned it.

  No offense to anyone with a blue car but blue just doesn't do it for me. My leanings are to a 2016/2017 civic EX or 2018 Mazda 3 Sport Nav.. I'm 75 and Mrs is 10 years behind me. I appreciate that I (we) will need to test drive both so I'm not asking for specific recommendations, but would want to avoid buying something with potential similar issues to certain VW boxes for example.

  Looking for my next 'cheap' car as a replacement for my 1.4 2001 Polo. The Mazda 2 1.4 Petrol looks interesting.  Seen half a dozen or more advertised for just under or over £3k and around 30k-60k miles. According to HJ review it's an OK car - nothing stunning but better than the Ford Fiesta on which it shares a number of components and the chassis.
