Is a Mazda3 a good buy?

After much deliberation I found a 2014 sept 64 plate Mazda 3 2.0 120PS petrol Automatic SEL-L Nav having done just 1500 miles on the clock at my local Mazda dealership for £16100. Do you feel this has been sensible business? The other option was a Honda Civic 1.8 i-VTEC Petrol Automatic but my wife hates the styling. What are your thoughts?

Yes, because I rate the Mazda3 as the best car in its class and the 6-speed automatic box as the best automatic available in this class. Volkswagen still have DSG that I cannot with any honestly recommend. The Civic 1.8 i-VTEC auto has a 5-speed torque converter auto that is very good and pretty much bulletproof. We have that transmission in a Jazz in Thailand (different spec there). But I understand your wife's feeling about its aerodynamic and fuel efficient but pudding basin styling.
