First Aid at Accident ? 4 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I witnessed an accident this morning where a young girl (13 ish) stepped into the road in front of a passat. Luckily the passat was not going fast and she rolled on the bonnet and then stood up straight away and appeared to be ok. She then tried to continue on her way saying that everything was ok and she wanted to go to school. -
Cheap Insurance 24 Sep 2003 (Forum)
.£711.9 Comp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It just goes to show the loading some insurance companies put on young drivers. My advice, try www.elephant.co.uk, the money they saved on the tacky advert sure shows on the quotes!!!! (Sorry if I sound like a elephant.co.uk employee, which I'm not. I thought I would spread the work). -
Choosing my insurance 21 Sep 2002 (Forum)
It's that time of year again when I need to plump for the lesser of several evils, and pick an insurance company...Just wondering if any of the back-roomers had advice on which companies to try for decent (read: cheap) quotes? I am a 'young driver' (i.e. in the 21-24 bracket), male, (I know, not looking good so far) and drive an Audi Coupe 2.0L (oh yes, it's gonna be expensive!). Last year was with Adrian Flux, this year, best quote so far (TPFT) is with Norwich Union, at £650 (very impressed with this one). -

Toyota Corolla (1992 - 1997) - 94 1.6Gli Central Locking/Alarm doesn't disengage 8 Feb 2009 (Forum)
It has an optional toyta alarm system, specified as an extra when the car was new by the original owner. When the weather is cold, usually below 5C when I unlock the car from the drivers door (only this door operates the central locking//alarm), the central locking often will not unlock the other doors, and the alarm goes off when I open the drivers door. Sometimes the central locking opens, but the alarm doesn't switch off...... -
Reliability of Ford Powershift ‘boxes 29 Nov 2022 (Forum)
Turns out the Powershift gearbox on the Ford B-Max had overheated and was flashing up a warning that it needed to be left for five minutes to cool down! The poor driver (with a young child) was distraught, as she was completely blocking the road. After 5 minutes, she was able to move off again, but the transmission overheated again after about 100 yards. -
Tipper Truck and Limp mode - Two Surprises OUCH! 24 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Driving up an A road couple of days later, car shoots across from the right (VW passat) and suddenly loses power and then proceeded to drive very slowly up the road, obviously unable to accelerate. I managed to brake sufficiently to stop, and when we pulled into a petrol staion the driver said sorry, I saw you etc and said he would call the breakdown services. young rovergirl said both times, don't they watch the road and what else is on it. One guess for my reply.. -

Web & phone insurance differences 9 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Just a word to the wise....was insuring the car for our au pair and got a quote on line from Direct Line, but the questions you have to answer on-line seemed a little vague so I called them to make absolutely sure that what I wanted to buy was what they were offering (some insurance companies regard au pairs as employees and require you to have full business use, others recognise that an au pair is effectively a family member). At this point they told me that their policy with young drivers is that they require them to be the registered owner of the car and if I wasn't prepared to re-register the car in the au pair's name they wouldn't insure them. They admitted this wasn't their web-policy which makes me wonder how many people buy on-line and unwittingly are effectively uninsured. -

Who's to blame here? 18 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Out walking last night at about 8:30pm I was nearly part of an accident. A young cyclist was making quick progress along the pavement behind me. His bike was unlit as one would expect. The cyclist and I were next to the main road and I stopped at a minor road leading off the main road for a look round before crossing. -
Insurance "fronting" 17 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Lastly, another scenario, what about the aged parent who lives locally and has a nice comfortable car that is not really being used who puts his married with family daughter (who has her own car and car insurance) on his policy as a named driver so she can take him shopping, to the doctors, hospital etc though she ends up doing more mileage in the car than him? Thanks. -

'95 306 - what's it worth - help! 22 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Overall I'd say it would look very nice with a polish and hoover. Oh, and for some reason the little pip on the drivers door to work the lock has pinged off. Wierd. And the indicator lense clear outer on the front is missing. Can anyone tell me roughly if this is a good deal? Is this a good car for a young family (we have our first baby on the way and our Ford Ka will be too small.) -
And I thought life was getting boring...... 18 Nov 2007 (Forum)
A bizarr thing happened today, and I had a ringside seat, in thc comfort of my own van. I was waiting at traffic lights having pulled up behind another car, when I saw a young lad (late teens) cross the road in front of me. I may have recognised the lad, I don't know. Next the driver of the car in front, gets out and proceeds to assault the young lad, right next to my van! -
Road deaths on increase 23 Jul 2012 (Forum)
Transport Committee data proves that this age group is the most vulnerable, and its education – or lack there of – that’s to blame. Drivers aren’t taught to drive these days, they’re taught to pass their driving test. It was the same for me. Young motorists aren’t drilled as to the importance of knowing how to drive to the conditions – speed might be indirectly related here, but it’s arguably not gratuitous use of it. -

See you later undertaker 23 Apr 2015 (Forum)
A young woman in a following car tooted angrily. Perhaps she was not paying attention and got too close. I stopped and waved her by, even going onto the footpath to encourage her, let her cause the holdup, but she wouldn't pass me. -
