  Morning All, Having recently been brought up to speed on the new EU directives on Daytime running lights, on a trip to Blackburn yesterday I saw two '05 reg MK V Golfs like mine with what appeared to be running lights, in the section at the bottom of the headlight, below the dipped beam and next to the indicator.

  Hi,has anyone got any thoughts about running on cooking oil? I have been thinking about putting it in my 96 Rover 420 SLDI,but would value some comments first.Would it harm the diesel pump and the turbo or anything else,does anyone know?.I would only run upto 33%.How does the law stand on this now?

  She has checked for signs of leaks in an around the engine bay with nothing obvious. Smell is in cabin when engine is running, mostly round town. My thoughts are (if it is not a leak) over fueling and possible temp sensor issue. She has not noticed ay running issues as yet. Is a temp sensor or it's wiring likely to be at fault?

  [endif]--> My Renault scenic 54 plate 1.6L 16V has got a problem and needs help. ok I had the dashboard display replaced about 2 weeks ago by Renault cost £100 (Renaults fault the dash display goes off) then all of a sudden the emission warning light came on and the car runs ruff just ticking over on the drive, and a spluttering noise comes from the back of exhaust, when I try to accelerate the car loses power. Also it’s using alot more petrol than before so I changed the spark plugs (quite easy to do) and there is a big difference in the way it runs BUT the warning lights back on and the car is slowly starting to run ruff again.

  Having read through many threads here over the years, I understand that Zetecs like to run cool rather than hot, but mine has just started to run cold! The temp gauge barely gets to the top of the cold marker, even when in traffic. I can hear the fans cutting in, even though the gauge is still not up to "normal".

  then you can run a Diesel engine on both as long as you keep to A & B above. Anyone know for sure? The government website is about as much use as a chocolate teapot on the matter Many thanks - B&E

  Did the Easter break Uni run to collect daughter from Bristol yesterday and a very pleasant run it was to. Both the A34 & M4 were free running and relaxed. No idiots, no 'close ones', no aggression, no incidents. No one flashing their lights behind me 'cos I dared to overtake in the fast lane at 'only 80!'.

  I have got a 1995 N reg SEAT 1.4i petrol that has been occaissionally cutting out but as of last week now refuses to run. On turning the key, the engine will fire and run for about a second or two but will then die. Engine is the 8 valve multipoint injection type (as apposed to throttle body injection) I have tested for fuel pump operation and it runs for about a second before cutting.

  Thinking about putting winter tyres have done so before and they tend to be better in winter conditions! But a whole lot of questions with my new car as it has run flats. 1] Normal Winter Tyres vs Run flat winter tyres. The car as 18 inch alloys with summer tyres. Plan to change to 17 inch alloys with normal winter tyres is this going to be ok? 2] Buying another set of alloys is this required ?

  If I disconnect the MAF electric connection, the car fires up and is not a problem, other than eventually giving a MAF code reading as you would expect and engine light on the dash. Sometimes when the engine warms up and is still running, I can reconnect the MAF and the car will run fine (but only after the engine is up to running temperature). With the MAF disconnected its not a problem running but probably running with wrong air/fuel mix I guess.

  Hello - this problem concerns a Ford 1.8 diesel turbo-intercooled engine, but whilst I'm posting under the Escort heading, it's actually fitted as OEM equipment to an agricultural vehicle; however as far as I can tell the installation closely matches a typical car job ( the only difference is that there is no ECU). The problem is starting - from cold the engine fires up well, and for 5 to 10 seconds runs and revs up okay to my ears, but then starts to run very irregularly and soon stops. It then doesn't start , or runs very badly, until it has been left for a while, and then it runs and stops as before; this suggests  fuel starvation ( of course ?)

  I have recently downsized from my BMW 320i to an A3 Sportback 1.4 petrol with the 140bhp cylinder on demand engine, and would like to find H.J.`s guidance on the correct procedure to running in this vehicle, without over stressing the engine too early?

  Hi guys, i have a problem with the above car, once it gets to normal running temp it coughs splutters and dies, when cold its fine. Any ideas, I know nothing about cars so im totally up a creak. thanks

  I hope someone can help I have a 2008 focus 1.6tdci. Started to run rough and hesitates when accelerating. Also white smoke at high revs.This started last week intermittently but now doing it all the time. Any Ideas?

  Hi There I Am New Here And Would Appreciate Any Help Please. i have got a 2003 1.7 combo but it stropped running for no reason a week ago, put some easy start into it and up it firedd but after a few minutes stopped running and hasnt run since.

  Problem has got worse sincemy garage changed the thermostat. Car will run for 10 mins then all warning lights come on and the car starts to lose power. Any help would be appreciated.

   Hi Am just about to take delivery of a nearly new citroen C3 Airdream+ with the 1.6HDI engine and was wondering if the advice given by HJ on the 31st Mar 2002 still relevant today as regards running in a new diesel engine. Any advice would be appreciated. Wingsone.
• Focus Screen washers 22 Sep 2003 (Forum)
  The washers for both front and rear screens have failed to squirt but the pump runs and, yes, the washer tank is full. Having disconected the pipe from the pump on the tank nothing runs out when the pump runs indicating a pump problem rather than a pipe problem. Before I dismantle the tank,does anyone have any bright ideas?
