  • Peugeot 308 - How do I stand? 5 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Good Mornig all I bought a NON Runner 308, I Checked the Usual & replaced the Usual after a full service, when the car was bought the previous owner has had the same problem, he was told it was the Pump Solinoid, I replaced with new, new Peugeot Filter etc, Filled up the filter before replacing, battery full of charge, car started & ran for about 20 mins the pettered out,the car will now, not start I was told there was no pressure to the Injector line, I towed the car to a local Diesel Doctor, after a week due to people off for hols I ran him yesterday to be told that there was a Fault within the wiring loom that has caused a NON Sigal getting to the ECU to reduce the fuel lines pressure????????? my Question, the car is a 2008, done 58000, is there cause for a warrantee Issue with peugeot? I have never heard of this before, has anyone on H.J. Heard of this?
  • BMW 5 Series E39 - Won't start when hot 29 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Ok, no big deal I hear you say, what new? The big difference is that there was no power to the pump(cause is suspected ECU not sending message to power the pump). He put a 12 volt feed from the battery to the pump and pow she fired up!! He tested this 30 times over a week to make sure, and road tested it. What he eventually did was to run a wire from the fuse box via the ignition switch to the pump.
  • Nissan Micra K11 1.0 - Lack of engine response 12 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Am I right in thinking the problem is with the MAF only, or might there also be a problem with the ECU? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated
  • Ford Focus 1.8TDCI Zetec Estate 58 Plate - Warranty Issues 24 Apr 2014 (Forum)
I bought a Focus from a main dealer, broke down within the fisrt few miles (engine malfunction warning, became undriveable). Took the car back, they said the ECU needed recalibrating, and that there was an open circuit on an injector, and that if they hadn't fixed it it might need a new injector. It hasn't happended again, but I get a VERY unnverving juddering every now and again.
  • Vauxhall Vectra C - MOST RELIABLE TAXI PRIVATE HIRE MINICAB 12 Jan 2014 (Forum)
I am looking to replace my 2005 taxi 1.9 cdti 120 bhp as I have had enough, replacement engine, headgasket, shockers every so often, electrics, ecu, this sensor that sensor. the list goes on.. not as reliable as my old vectra b 2.0 dti.  Once I put a car on I can have it on for 8 years but sadly these days the cars cannot take the battering as they used to.
  • Volvo V40 - Small things that affect enjoyment of a car 3 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Yet on open roads in 4th gear and higher, the first quarter of the pedal travel is sensitive and much more consistent.   It feels like Volvo has tinkered with the ECU mapping to restrict torque in lower gears and at lower speeds, unless the driver makes a very determined stab at the throttle.  Unfortunately, it makes town driving irritating.   What niggles get your goat with cars?
  • Peugeot 207 - What should I do, 1 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Now when coming back from work the car suffered a sudden loss of power and makes a noise over 2000rpm,  so instead of take it back too the dealer I took it to a pug garage to find out what's really going on, after a diagnostic check they say the ecu has 4 fualts (2 sensors, cold coils and a fault with the drive shaft) and that the turbos gone which would cost nearly 2000 alone to fix..   So it's well and truly goosed and I don't know what to do and don't what to continue to pay finance for something I can't use..
  • Vauxhall Astravan engine making tapping noise 27 Aug 2013 (Ask HJ)
I've just put a second hand engine in my 2001 Vauxhall Astravan. From what I can tell, the engine was good and the only thing that needed changing was...
  • Vauxhall Corsa D 2006 - 1.3 CDTi - Yellow car/spanner indicator light 13 Aug 2013 (Forum)
This went on for about a month, start the car OK, after a mile the light would come on again. Took it to my local non-Vauxhall garage to see if the could read the ECU error codes and point me in the right direction to where the fault might lie but they could only read the general codes. I checked the usual suspects listed in the Haynes manual and found nothing so I gave up.
  • Honda Civic IMA Hybrid - Fault finding by replacing bits. 13 May 2013 (Forum)
Then, after some head-scratching, they noticed that the signal cable connecting the engine to the Hybrid system (his words) had broken somehow. Replacing the cable fixed it, as the ECU could now talk to the "failed" motor and battery in question. He's wondering if the lease company are going to spot that the eye-wateringly large bill resulting is actually for a load of unnecessary work and a 30EUR cable.
  • Nissan Micra (2003 - 2010) - 03 1.2 Power steering, NATS & tailgate lock fault 24 Apr 2013 (Forum)
Had the AA out, they ran some diagnostics on it, cleared the NATS light by removing & replacing a fuse, couldn't do anything about the PS. Said they were getting fault code U1001 out of the ECU. Had a poke around, no sign of any obvious loose connections or chafed wires. Bit worried as another thread on this forum suggests up £600 for a new PS motor. Also slighty odd that a car that has given trouble free reliable service for 3 yrs has now developed 3 problems since being serviced at the local main dealer 3 weeks ago. 4 if you count the wiper mechanism that broke and had to be replaced when we had the first lot of snow.
  • Vauxhall Zafira - Zafira faulty codes P0725, P1335, P1631 8 Mar 2013 (Forum)
CODES STORED P0725 ENGINE SPEED SENSOR, P1335 INJECTION PUMP NO INPUT SIGNAL, P1631 INJECTION PUMP MALFUNCTION REQUIRES NEW INJECTION PUMP AND ECU ASSEMBLY.. And by fixing all this will cost at £2,953. It's more than the car worth to be honest. The car still runs but when it comes to a fault its revving up by self. Yes please, I really need your help and advice.
  • Peugeot 206 - 206 coil pack earth or suppressor snapped 24 Jul 2012 (Forum)
I've read on one forum that it being snapped could reduce the life of the coil pack. On another forum it suggests that it could protect the ECU from any electrical spikes from the coil pack.   Does anyone know if either of these could be the case? Other forums talk a lot about a suppressor mod, but is this something to do the main connector in the middle of the coil pack?
  • Where do I stand 23 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I've had nothing but problems with this car for the past 2 years, I've had the following replaced within the last 7 months - ecu, glow plugs, new cylinder head, air con unit, 4 sensors. Could I use this to help me in getting something done? Do I have ground to ring the finance company and explain what is going on, would it fall, under the sales of good act that my car is not fit for the purpose?
  • Citroen Berlingo diesel van - citroen berlingo diesel won't start HELP PLEASE 7 Nov 2011 (Forum)
hi guys I'm a newbie on here and getting desperate, bought a non turbo berlingo van in bridlington and drove it back to leeds about 60 miles, next day went 3 miles and sods law timing belt went, got another engine and box from a running van that had been hit up the rear, van master tech guys from a ford main dealer fitted new timing belt and the engine and for three weeks have been trying to get it going with no luck, they have had diagnostic machine on and shows no faults, they seem to have tied it down to no fuel, the fuel gets to the pump but is not coming through, there is a minor fault showing a problem with intermittent earth I think from ecu ( but don't quote me i am speaking from memory ) but they have by passed that and still same fault, we have the old fuel pump from othe engine but apparently to swap it you have to remove the engine again, so was trying to determine if there was anything else it could be, any help would be very much appreciated

  • Peugeot (1996) 406 2LTR 16v Petrol LX - Peugeot 406 Idling/stalling problem 1 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I have owned this car from new and it has just rolled over 165,000 miles.A year ago it intermittently started to rev up and down erratically when started from cold, and once on the road it will momentarily falter/hesitate for a split second ,then run normally.Other times it will suddenly cut out while idling, but will start back up ok and then run fine.Other times the car will jerk as the power comes off and on ,and the revs will stay at 1200rpm if i engage neutral while coasting and will finally settle at 950rpm once the car has come to a halt. Now and again the fault light comes on and records "Irregular fuel delivery".I have so far renewed the following ,Throttle Potentiometer/Stepper Motor/Oxygen(Lamda) sensor/Throttle cable, reconditioned ECU. The Master Tech at my dealer has reset the "Auto-adaptives " for me . This car is in excellent condition and drives beautifully 99% of the time, but i really need help with this fault as it is very hairy when it cuts out approaching junctions.
  • Astra 2001 8v auto - Various fault codes 2 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Fault codes present: u2103 (engine control module malfunction) u2106 (engine control module to transmission control module malfunction) p0700 (transmission control malfunction) p1700 (transmission control module service request) There was also a p1540 fault logged (aircon pressure sensor) which is probably the reason for the fan not cutting in but a seperate issue. Seeing that the ecu is bolted to the engine (bad design!) is this likely to have been damaged? I was replaced about 3 years ago although not sure of the reason. All sensor connections etc have been checked .
  • Vauxhall Corsa C - Vauxhall Corsa, 'Yellow spanner' light fault 26 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Eventually advise was sought of the Dealership, who advised that as everything had been changed then it must be the ECU ( The brainbox)…. This cost £500 to replace.. They then put it on the diagnostic and detected that the ‘cannister’ was full of water So TODAY the canister was replaced with a brand new canister..
  • Peugeot 207 - Fire damage 14 Nov 2010 (Forum)
I picked the car up and they told me they had changed seals and had the engine bay apart. Less than 48 hours later the car was on fire, not badly on fire ECU is melted and various parts of plastic in the engine bay. I have obviously told my insurance who are in talks with Pug. My question is will this be a write off? Can I refuse the car back as I wil not drive the car I don't trust the workmanship and don't want the car setting on fire again?
